    Hi Guys,

The ongoing rebuild of my '82 GTSi is continuing and making great progress and I am starting to install/reinstall bits in and around the engine bay.

When I went on Eurospares it looked like my car was missing a heatshield, part 15 in the picture, so ordered one up. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Having now come to fit it to the car, there are no obvious signs that there were ever any fixing on my car for this and I am now wondering whether or not it was ever really fitted to the Euro spec cars?

Does anyone have any info they could share with me on whether or not this should be installed, and if so, any pics of one in place so I can get it positioned correctly? Having scoured Google I am coming up short.

    Thanks as always.

    Cheers,

    Tom

There's a slight difference in the trunk construction between the Euros and the North American cars.
The Schedoni luggage was even slightly different between versions.

But once the catalysts were on there I'd SAY a metal floor and insulation on the exhaust side would have ben standard.

But that plate would be the first thing put in between the frame rails.
If yours is mising it may be that way from original?

'82 is past my years of expertise.

I do have Parts Books from the early cars.
