I think a second reprint probably, NOT a copy sure; i don t see differences, i had one filled and it was the same in all.
Why should it be a copy? There are quite a number of "unfilled", completly blank, warranty cards in circulation. I have three myself...as said by Mauri, it is probably a second run (reprint) from the original, this is easy to see by looking at the print reference inside the back cover. Rgds PS: Maury, it is somewhat contradictory to have these yellow cover books in a pouch with the "temporary instructions". The yellow cover books belong to late production 328 (the yellow warranty card, depending from its print number, could be for a september 1988 to August 1989 328, or even a very, very late production car - August and September 1989 if it is the latest print number, "552" if my memory serves me well) Whereas the "temporary instructions" were for the very first 328, september to december 1985, before any owner manual was printed... Your pouch would be complete with the yellow "Ferrary network directory" instead of the temporary instruction (And with the ABS supplement, it would be even better). Many very late production 328 (1989 cars, mostly) had dark burgundy pouches instead of tan (see the two colors on the enclosed picture) Rgds Image Unavailable, Please Login
Usually the references from Grafiche Rebecchi, Modena are inside the back cover at bottom and read as such: The first is the Ferrari publication number, the second the year of publication, the third the number of copies of the print run. If there is a "R" before the number of copies, it means this is not the original run of prints, but a re-run after the first one was exhausted (so "R" doesn't mean that it is not OEM, only that it is not the first run of prints) For instance in the september 1988 printed owner manual for the 328: 513/88 1000 mean: publication # 513, year 1988, number of copies printed: 1000. The warranty book looks to be 552/89 to me, so publication #552, year 1989, number of copies "xxxx" and if you have a "R" before the number, then it is not the first run of prints. PS: very few 328 have the warranty card # 552, as it appeared at the end of the spring or in the summer of 1989, and the production of the 328 stopped in september, so only some of the late cars after chassis 81xxx or so. Re-PS: there is a very interesting booklet written by a frenchman, Mr Sauze, published in 1996 that lists ALL official Ferrari publications (booklets, warranty cards, owner manuals, directories, etc...) by print number from 1947 to 1995. Rgds
So i confirm that said by nerofer, the number wrote in the last page is 552/89 R; this is a second print (reprint).
Mauri, Just for your information: As said above, the warranty card 552/89 is correct for the very late production 328s... BUT it is also correct for the first 348s, as it is for "8 cylinder engines", and the first 348 were produced at the same period than the last 328s, so late production 328s and early production 348s share the same warranty card. For all 1988 and the first half of 1989 328s (and Mondial, as - again - the booklet is for "8 cylinders cars"), the warranty card is 498/88. To be a complete "Euro" 328 pouch, what yours is missing is the "Organizzazione di vendita e assistenza" (sale and service organisation) the correct one (with yellow cover) being 510/88, here displayed: 1988 Ferrari Sale and Service Organisation manual (#510/88) Plus, for the owner that has a late production 328 with the ABS option, the small booklet called "ABS Supplement" which is 522/88 These manuals are for EURO cars only: US cars have different owner manuals (they have catalysator, Euro car do not: late US 328 owner's manual is 535/88) and different warranty cards ("Eight cylinders, US Version") Late production Swiss/Swedish 328 version have also catalysator and their own owner's manual which is 518/88. Rgds
Mauri, I have an early 328 that perhaps should have had the temporary instructions. If you would consider selling that separately, I would be interested. Sincerely, Scott
