I am working on a 1/12 scale Model Factory Hiro kit of the Ferrari 330 P4 coupe. Unfortunately, this kit does not include any materials or information about how the dry sump oiling system is connected, or how the low pressure fuel system is connected.

For the oiling system, I am interested in learning how the lower chassis tubes were connected to the oiling system in the engine compartment, how the oil filter and its mounting pad were fastened and plumbed, where on the engine the oil lines were connected, and how the oil tank was connected.

Any images or diagrams showing how the oiling system was connected would be appreciated.

I am also looking for information on the low pressure fuel system, its slosh tank, and how it was connected to the engine. The MFH kit has one Facet style pump to be mounted on the left side, behind the oil tank, and four Facet style pumps to be mounted on the right side, but no info on how they are plumbed. I have seen several images of a round object mounted to the front of the engine compartment, about the size of a hockey puck, with three fuel lines connected to it, but this is not included in the kit either. I can also see several lines running across the front of the engine compartment, one may be a vent for the slosh tank as it looks like it has a check valve in it. Perhaps Jim G. can help explain how this is all connected?

Another item I need help with is the battery location. I have an image from underneath, showing what looks like a battery mounting tray mounted down low on the left side of the engine. Would this be appropriate for the 1967 Le Mans race?

Thanks in advance for the help.

This guy is a professional model maker and he is building this kit, so he may be able to help. He has put lots of photos on Facebook.

He is doing a great job on that one, but besides some of the rivet detail, it doesn't look like he is adding any of the missing parts.

I am working on the same model in coupe form [www.scaleautoart.com]. When I have those details worked out I will post them. Look under model building techniques.

Thanks Peter. I am going to have a set of photo-etched discs made to replace the white metal rods that are supposed to represent the fins on the oil cooler, in case you are interested in a set. An .008 inch thick disc would double the number of fins and should look much better. It will require several hundred individual parts just to do the six visible sections of the oil cooler. Why MFH didn't do this when they already have several PE sheets in the kit just boggles my mind.

Make sure the doors fit before you get too far along! Mine require some surgery and putty. I also found some number zero sheet metal screws which should be a good substitute for the M1.4 machine screws where necessary. The M1.4 threads are too fine for fastening white metal parts.

I wish MFH would go the route Mini Delta took on their P3 curbside wich has more parts then the Hiro full detail kit!!. I guess the average modeler would never finish the kits then as it would take forever...
