Anyone know what the circled relays are for and their correct size? I’m seeing nothing on diagrams about those two. There are wires from it so I don’t think they’re spare holders.

    Thanks

Not standard. Perhaps someone has relocated some of the relays for the ABS system?

Size? Just get the Bosch part number from the case.

Couldn't find anything about those relays in any of the 348 documentation, but that same bracket, cable, and two relays are used on 355 for the CDN version, and they call the item 35 cable (listed as 163071 on some other 355 SPC pages) "Diurnal Lights Connecting Cable" (or "Daylight Running Lights Cable" for a better English translation) :

If your car has daylight running lights, you can always just unplug one of the relays when they are "on" and see if one light goes "off". Even if not for that, I doubt unplugging one of those relays for a brief test would harm anything.

PS Are you working on someone else's 348, or is your Profile not up to date?

    It’s mine. I’ve got a 348, f430, and 280z.

Even the Ferrari wiring diagrams I've seen which do mention daylight running lights (550, 360, etc) they only show a partial circuit, i.e. a 3 pin plug, not a full circuit with one or two relays. I don't understand how they work.

The part number for the F355 cable is 163071, but I haven't been able to find any photos of it.

And what bad symptom(s) did that cause? There are many different Bosch PN relays that are functionally equivalent (or have specifications that are so little different that a user wouldn't notice much of a difference in use -- for example, that Bosch 0332209151 is the later plastic case equivalent of the now-unavailable Bosch 0332204101 in a metal case that would've been used on a 348 when new, and both are Ferrari part number 40130106). I can't quite make out the symbols on those existing relays in your post #1 photo -- can you post a better picture of the symbols on the top, or sides, of one of those existing relays to compare to the 0332209151?

This is the post/information I am using for compatibility. I’ll also post some pics of the relays themselves for the diagrams.

I noticed no symptom changes but I didn’t drive it during the period of fixing it, just on in my garage.

    Regarding the 0 332 014 140's replacement....

Miro is our resident guru when it comes to 348 electricals:

That reminds me. I fitted a new injector relay to my F355 from Eurospares. I forgot to check if they sent the 140 version. The colour was different to all the other ones (light brown), but that is no guarantee. I changed the relay because the ECU was throwing up a code for the relay.

Don't believe everything Bosch tells you.

Would bet that they sent you the Tyco (TE Connectivity) V23234-C001-X006 "equivalent" for the ...113/...140:

The data sheet (from this website) says it has an 85 Ohm coil resistance:

    https://www.waytekwire.com/item/75402/TE-Connectivity-V23234-C0001-X006

And it seems to have a whole bunch of different current ratings (30A/40A/50A) -- so that takes some real tea leaf reading (probably temperature and/or life dependent) to really figure out what means what. My recollection was the ...140 had a generic 40A rating while the ...113 has a generic 30A rating, but could be wrong about that -- but Miro's point about the voltage drop from using a transistor to drive the coil and the voltage drop of starter motor cranking seems more important.

Looks like you are right, Steve. Despite my relay coming in a box and plastic bag splattered with the Ferrari Genuine logos, it was a budget Tyco relay. The Ferrari part number on the box was correct.

    Cheaters!

That Tyco (or the black plastic Bosch equivalent that replaces ...113) might be the best that you can do for now (regardless of price ;)) -- AFAIK, no one has ever reported there being a true equivalent available for the ...140. Although Ferrari's design decision to use the ...140 seems to make a lot of technical sense for those uses per Miro's explanation, maybe there's such little demand overall for a ...140 like relay no one is (or has been) willing to do a minimum buy from a relay manufacturer (and it's probably a pretty big minimum order quantity needed, like 10K minimum).
