the tail pipes on my exhaust are quite low they hang down about 75mm below the exhaust cutout on the body work,is their anyway to lift the pipes up nearer the bodywork.

You need to fill out your profile so we know where you are (USA car or Europe?) and the year of your car. Single muffler or dual mufflers? Factory exhaust or aftermarket (i.e. Tubi)?

It sounds like your exhaust is hanging abnormally low. It might be necessary for you to remove your rear bumper in order to have a good, close look at the condition of your muffler brackets and clamps. The bumper comes off pretty easily with normal tools, only takes a few minutes once you know where the various nuts and bolts are located. The heat shields are also easy to remove.

    Thank you, Phil.

Is it safe to say that your exhaust looks something like this? The first thing I would do is simply to grab the tail pipes (hopefully when they are not hot) and just try to tilt the bottom muffler up and down, to see if there is obvious play in the exhaust, like a bracket may be broken (see the bracket between the upper and lower muffler? That was broken in half on my 348). If the brackets are intact, and the clamps on the pipes between the two mufflers are tight, then the mounting hardware on the upper muffler (not shown) may be loose, broken, or assembled incorrectly. I suppose it may be VERY remotely possible that the rear motor mount has a problem, and the entire drive train is tilted, but I doubt it.
