Does anyone know of or has anyone done a rebuild on one of these? I have someone that says he can but all I've heard is that it can't be done. Real interested in finding this out. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I think the rt side number is 177790 but I am interested in rebuilding both of them since if I replace just one, I'm assuming the other will be "weaker". At this point we are not sure if one or both are bad or going bad.

I'd be interested in learning more about rebuilding them. I've never had one go bad but they are pretty slow and need some help when it's really cold out. I wonder if a rebuild would help.

What happened? Parts weren't the right ones? Didn't have the right tools? Couldn't get them apart? I know on some shock absorbers (not that these are shocks) the body of the shock is welded closed.

The way it is crimp sealed together will not allow it to be taken apart and put back together. At the very least, unless someone knows differently, it would take a special tool to reset it especially with the pressure it would have to contain. I was not confident enough to take it apart and put it back together and install it with the fear of it coming apart.
