There was a Caterham (Lotus)7 at the PPIR event last weekend ripping fast the 2 F40's that were there. Point is on a small track they have an advantage because of there size and weight.

BTW you couldn't get the F40's out of fouth gear.

    E36 M3's are I6's they didn't make a V8 M3 GTR until the E46.

Here in the states the E36's built with i6's were commonly referred to as GTR's to distinguish them from the slower GT's.

The "Lightweight" you are referring to is a street car (E36 with less weight). There were two race versions of the E36 M3 raced in the states by various teams. The fastest were called GTR's and most were brought over from Europe. They had wider body work, different suspension geomoetry (different than production), and other upgrades. Most were built to comply with FIA rules.

    See pictures below.

Yes, those are GTR's but BMW never made a V6 only I6.

Hey Don, I too saw the Caterham on the course, it was absolultley amazing, at one point I saw him tear apart the 360 CS on the front straight, I new they were fast, but i never had any idea like that!

I was the younger kid in the white Hurley hat BTW

(Always loved that bit when Tony would act as if it were the first time.)

On this momentus occasion, I happily stand corrected. I haven't seen the interior of a post-S4 Esprit, so wouldn't know but to go by title of description page. Regardless of my flimsy excuses, you know your stuff & we've learned some interesting facts about that screamer.
Just the first one. Check the other links & enjoy the free ride.
