hey everyone i finally have the chance to say i own a 360 , now my question is about the asr . How should it operate because as far as im aware it kicks in if i put a little too much throttle in , but when i press the switch to turn it off it doesnt do anything ? what shoud it do when i press the asr switch? any info would be great thanks john
normal mode it is pretty aggressive at retarding your acceleration. Sport mode, the sport switch, gives you a little leeway. When it is active you see "Sport" in the lower left display panel. ASR turns the ASR off, no nannies. I suggest that you drive the car a little before going to ASR off. When ASR is off it shows "ASR" in the shift indicator window.
hi there thanks for the reply , well when i press sport it lights up sport etc but when i press the asr i dont see anything hear anything? am i missing something is there a fuse or anything i can also check?
Well, ASR in the 360 is very pro-active and sensitive in Normal mode... Ideally you would want to have the Sport mode, but the problem is that it hardens the suspension too, so the car become too stiff over bumps and less progressive (due to the harder suspension)... In my opinion the best thing to do is to ALWAYS keep the ASR on in the beginning until you learn the behavior of the car... Over time start switching it OFF and driving at roads that you really know well... You should be prepared and alert to give opposite steer all the time, as the car is set for oversteer even under medium throttle and even in higher gear... (oversteer in 4th is fun if you are quick)... As you get the hand of it, over time, you will start to appreciate driving the car with ASR OFF all the time... as I do... It is the first thing I do when I get in my car... Normal suspension and ASR off is the best setup for street (dry) driving... In wet don't even think about it... Hope this helps...
also is there a time when you have to turn it off etc , do you have to press it before you start your drive or can you just press it off whenever you feel like it ?
Not sure if there is a fuse or something. I am headed out to the airport so I can't look at the manual but if it isn't displaying ASR in the shift window after you press the switch you have a problem. You can turn it off at any point. No need to make that decision at the start of a drive. Sport goes on and off as well.
You can turn it off anytime you like. There should be an "ASR" indicator in the display when you do. Your ASR switch might be not making contact. ASR is integrated with ABS in the car. There are two fuses #4 by the battery and #46 behind the passenger seat. Agee with keeping ASR on when you just get the car. Your cars sheemetal will like it.
In my place, where streets are slippy ASR off is not advisable even from the dealer. Even on sport mode car is quite dangerous. I talked with the president of the Ferrari club, few weeks ago. He told me that the 360 is not made to be driven with ASR off. That was the first thing i kept from the chat. The other is that the Enzo is the most easy to drive Ferrari
As above, ASR should light up in the dashboard when you have it turned off. A sticky switch is a definite possibility, it might even have been disconnected by a previous owner. If you find it overly intrusive it may be that your tyres are old and perished and are not providing the correct level of grip. It's common for a car to be sold with decent thread depth and the new owner assumes the tyres are fine but later finds that they are actually seven or more years old. It's also possible that the tyres are too far from the factory sizes and are causing the system to "think" there is wheelspin when in fact there is not. I'd definitely recommend that you check your tyres manufacture date and if older than three years, replace them. You need to have good tyres on the car, particularly when learning it's characteristics. Michelin Pilot Super Sports and Bridgestone RE11s are presently both highly recommended tyres for your car.
+1 night and day. Old P0s and asr constantly flashing in my face, to re11s with ADR only when I get a little naughty. Still annoying. Not to hijack, but does anyone know the extent to which traction control utilizes the brake system?
hey everyone im back on the subject of the asr on my 360. Cut a story short no matter what it will not allow me to turn the asr off when I press the button it comes up saying asr in orange and it wont go off until I press it again is this a fault ? or am I stupid ^_^
Unless I'm mistaken, it's working properly. The orange "ASR" in the display after pressing the button indicates that your ASR has been disabled (shut off); pressing the button again restores the ASR and removes the warning indicator.
From the manual, ASR Cutout Control By pressing the button (I), the ASR system (which is always functioning upon ignition) can be disabled. The "ASR" icon (L) will appear on the multi-function display. Section 2.31 from a 2001 owner's manual. Section 2.27 shows ASR in orange which indicates a fault with the system. Hope this helps
I couldn't remember if the display showed red or orange in the display with ASR inactive. Just tells me I need to get out and drive the car!
Can someone maybe upload a video of them turning the asr off and back on again so i can actually see how it's supposed to behave ? Obviously the camera on the dials
Note also that an ASR Active warning comes on for at least 4 seconds whenever the ASR activates, as sort of a "hey stupid, it is slippery out there" warning. Since yours is activating, take along a passenger and let them look for the correct indication. That will let you know the system is operational. Hit the switch and it should no longer illuminate.
I promised myself that I would drive my car for one month without disabling the ASR. I did so. After this, I disabled the ASR and have never turned it back on since (8 years).
I tried mine today for the first time and I think the switch was a bit sticky and non responsive from lack of use. After a few times the display in the tach "multi-functional display" said ASR in capital letters with a line struck through it. I took this to mean that it was off... and it stayed in the display this way. The switch is like a toggle, once for on, and once again for off. I am not sure if you need to hold it down until the display comes on. I was doing a few things so I cant recall.
Hello all thanks for your comments , i was looking round in the car and noticed these wires near battery compartment one is snapped what are these for any ideas ? One has a fuse in , the one that's snapped as you can see doesn't have a fuse Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Glad to have the ASR on yesterday in Carmel, CA come over Carmel Valley road and hit a patch o slick...not sure what it was...guy ahead of me in a 356 replica went completely sideways...good driver not to wreck...mine shifted hard & recovered. I like my ASR...goes faster with better traction imho
Wow good thread. I must have had mine on when I noticed the hesitation in the CS TCU. All the switches work well.
LOL That's an "interesting" perspective. if you do a spirited track day with the ASR in normal mode, you will be quite disappointed as the nannies chop the throttle as you drift through a corner and then try to accelerate. Same hold true for any venue, road or track, just choose the venue smartly. !
