I just had the ASR and brake light come a couple of weeks ago, brought the car in for an sd2 which showed right back wheel bearing needed to be replaced. Bearing and sensor is a complete unit. To many options to figure out on my own so I just brought it in. Should have it back tomorrow as good as new.

I also had a faulty back right wheel bearing and was replaced but the asr still wont deactivate.

Is the sd2 the only route to find my problem or can a regular scanner pick this fault up?

Doubt regular scanner will work. The codes for this are not related to emissions.. which was the primary driver for OBDII IIRC. Unfortunately it looks like the SD2 and Leonardo scanners are the only ones that will pick up the code.. It'll be quick and cheaper once the diagnosis code guides you in a direction. I would also check that connector (above) on the wheel that you had the bearing replaced. Just confirm its clean and connected. A squirt of WD40 might even help..
