Hey Guys I am in the process of building a new home and with it a detached garage space with a lounge. I was planning on digging a pit in the lounge space and dropping in a Ferrari 360 engine into it, and having a glass top put over it. The pit would be lit so you can stand over it and look down into it, more of a conversation element... Does anyone have a sense of the 360 Engines dimensions? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you, I can't take credit for it. A friend of mine suggested it and it made a lot of sense so I went with it. The image has it positioned incorrectly as shown, it will be clocked 90 degrees from where it's currently shown. The lounge space has a U shaped couch, an ottoman then this pit then the wall for a TV with in wall speakers. Nice little space for myself.
With headers or without. That makes a huge difference. Text me 7708458335 and I'll measure up whatever you need.
Please post the results up here, as the info wold be most useful to me too, although for different reasons!
Hope the pit isn't below the top of your water table... concrete isn't exactly known for its inherent water proof traits. I live way up on the top of a hill, but when it rains, our water table rises quite a bit. During construction, when it rained, I had some areas of the ground open for concrete work and was kind of shocked to see how high the water table rose. My concern for your 360 motor in the pit idea would be if you started getting moisture in there. Down the road, you could find a rusty motor or worse, a flooded pit. Do you have any provisions here to make this thing 100% moisture proof? Concrete is a sponge basically. Ray
Perfect will give you a ring tomorrow. Mostly need height, width, length so I can size the pit with 18 inches all around as to see down into the engine on a stand that holds the motor
Hey ray great point. They will be waterproofing the box, it’s an extremely reputable builder on our area and they have the architects involved in the planning. The pit at this point costs more than the engine itself lol
You should include provisions so it lifts up out the ground like that monolith in 2001 a Space Odyssey, complete with the sound track playing in the background as it comes up. Ray
