So last week we installed some Fabspeed headers and Capristo test pipes in my buddy Stu's 360 Spider. We had previously installed headers in my F430, and I can tell you that the headers are harder to install in the 360.

For starters, the placement of the AC compressor and Alternator are directly in the way of gaining access to the front nuts. In the F430 we were able to work around the AC and alternator and they did not need to be removed. But perhaps the worst part is that stupid air tube that's an emissions control piece sitting on top of the headers. That restricts your access even further to what's already a very tight space. We couldn't even get our fingers in for 1 of the nuts and had to first attempt to have my wife try, but eventually we got the nut on by putting it on a pick and using a screw-driver to balance. I still think it's a miracle it even went on.

However, even with all of these obstacles in the way, it's really not that complicated of a job, but it just takes patience. LOTS and LOTS of patience. Oh, and just about every 13mm wrench design you can find.

Here is part 1 in which we remove MOST of the nuts on the OEM manifolds and get 1 of them out. I'll post part 2 once it goes live tomorrow morning.

    Enjoy! :)

How are you guys going to solve the readiness monitors for state inspection with the catless pipe?

The O2 extenders will allow it to pass but they're are other methods too... Texas is a simple obdii check.

Reduce your frustration by removing the engine mount and the AC compressor on bank 2, the engine mount and the alternator on the other side.

Even with test pipes? I thought you still needed some change across the cats even with the extenders to not get the CEL.

Yeah....thinking that extenders will eliminate a CEL with test pipes is unrealistic. You have to tune the CEL light out.

Also, those weren't lambda sensors but thermocouples

Exactly! If you code it out, it will never set its readiness monitor....not unless you get Trev's swiss army knife tool which is why I'm curious how they're going to do it and get past the state inspection that's an OBD plug in scanner that essentially only checks the readiness monitors

Pretty brave to do it on your back. I would not touch that job without a lift.
