-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi guys and gals. I'm new to the forum and I'm in a market for a Lambo Gallardo or Ferrari 360...maybe an Aston V8 Vantage. If I do get the Aston, it would definitely not for performance reason. My budget is around $130K. I was wondering if anyone own both a Gallardo and/or Ferrari 360 that can give me some insights before I make my purchase. Thanks in advance.
Welcome to the Forum! I have not driven (or ridden) in either one. But I've been pretty slow to warm to the 360 body style. It is growing on me more, but I like the Gallardo styling much better. I believe the Gallardo is faster also. I thought it was stunning when I first saw it, and still looks exciting and very beautiful to me. I understand the Gallardo has a feature allowing the suspension to be raised for speed bumps, which is very nice, but an extra complication. I'll have to leave more details to those who have owned one or the other (or both..) Rick
The 360/Gallardo comparison has been discussed ad nauseum. You might spend some time in the 360/F430 section here. The 'search' function above is also very helpful in finding prior threads on this topic.
I know a few people who have owned both and I have asked that very question to at least two of them. The 360 is the one without a doubt. The G is a great car in its own right they will tell you, but it still ain't no Ferrari! Cheers!
My dad just traded his 04 360 for an 08 Gallardo convertible. The hydraulic lifting of the front end was one of the main things that swayed him. After driving both I prefer the 6 speed manual 360, but I am not racing the car. The colors of the Gallardo are awesome, but the reliability of both should be comparable.
It depends. Reliability is about the same. If you're hairy chested, and wear four gold chains with your Tommy Bahama shirt unbuttoned, carry around Australian Gold tanning lotion and constantly rub it on your belly, while reading Sportfishing Magazine, you should get the Gallardo. If you're the Metrosexual type who would rather sit in a chair and stare at the car as opposed to driving it, while wearing a replica Michael Schumacher racing suit and Ferrari hat while making "VRRROOOM" noises with your mouth, you should get the 360.
Wow, I do not think I fit either of these molds (at least I hope not!). What should I drive? I am a mid-30's car nut who thinks of cars like women. I can stare at the beautiful ones for hours, but I always daydream about taking them for a test drive to see if they perform as well as I hope. The ones I do own, I try to exercise as much as possible (daily if practical), and I am not just talking about the cars!
I haven't. It's one thing to drive them but it's another to own them and live with them. I haven't lived with any of them yet that's why I need your help.
I have a budget of $130k. If I get the Aston, it's gonna be a slightly used 06 or 07, low miles, still under warranty and pocket the rest of $$$. Can't do that with the G or 360.
If you'd consider an Aston, maybe you need to check out the new Maserati Gran Turismo! Very cool car! Cheers!

I've had them both on the track and will tell you this: I prefer the 360 to even the 430 as it feels much lighter, a little smaller and almost as powerful. The Gallardo is also very hot on the track, but I prefer the 360. So the answer is... the Ferrari without a doubt!!! Ask the same question at www.**********.com and you will get another perspective of course.
I just recently had the same dilemna, Last year, put a $5,000 deposit on the first V8 Vantage roadster, test drove a '06 Gallardo, and a 360 Spider...Here was my thought process. I know very little about cars, except were to put gas, and who to take them to when there is a problem....My major concern/problem with the Aston (Got my deposit returned to me) was the incredible decrease in value immediately. If you look on ebay, major dealer websites, Dupont, Manheim, etc , every day, almost as an obsession, as I do, The dealers are dying to unload these cars, '06 DB9 volantes that stickered at around $170-$180K or higher can now be had for less than $130K, which means if you bought that car last year and want to trade it in, you are getting in the $115-$120 range...Thats a beating!!! My problem with the Gallardo is that I felt claustrophobic, small interior and I felt cramped (and I am 5' 10" 185lbs). That left the 360 Spider, These have also taken a plunge in the last year, My "04 Spider that I just bought for $165K, ,(Red/Tan, F1, 6k miles..lots of options), earlier this year would have sold for closer to $200K, However, I don't think anyone will argue that the Ferrari's hold there value much better than the others, if that is important. Personally, I buy a car concerned with resale as much as what I want to drive, because I keep them for an average of 2 years, and then move on to something else.. I hope this helps, if you need anymore info, feel free to PM me...Good Luck!
