Great mod, can’t believe you sold it at this price. I picked up my wheel/bag for $1100 bnib from the dealer.

 

Don't remember what I paid but definitely one of the best things I've done to my 355.

If you haven't done it yet, the next time one pops up, buy it!

If there's one mod to make on a 355, this is it. The stock 355 steering wheel looks like it came off a mini van.

 

I not sure that could have happened in the last 15 years. The 360 airbag alone from Ferrari is $3,700 usd.

 

I was wondering the same thing. I thought igot a good deal at about 12 or 1300 8 years ago used

 

This was 8mo ago. :shrug:
In stock, sitting on the shelf one typically doesn’t get hosed with retail list.

Just some background for you:

I searched for almost a year to find a 360 steering wheel and airbag. A fellow Fchat member had a steering wheel listed on ebay for $785 which I snapped up.

The airbag was far more complicated. None of the US exotic recycle companies had one for sale. Ferrari wanted $4,100 for a new one which seemed to be a ridiculous amount. I switched settings on ebay to give me international listings and found one in Bulgaria for 975 GBP. The seller had positive reviews and had been recycling exotics for some time. Ebay would not let me buy it because airbags are considered an explosive device by ATF and the US shipping companies. I contacted the seller directly and explained the situation and they shipped it via TNT for an additional 40 GBP.

That's where the real fun begins because TNT drops the package into the US FedEX network and they see it as explosive device and also require an explanation to the Department of Transportation since it is an "safety device". I remember about 5 different forms and multiple phone conversations with FedEx. They finally are satisfied with the paperwork and submit it to US Customs which approves the shipment. It took two days for the airbag to travel to Memphis and another 2.5 weeks to get into my hands.

All in.....I spent about $2,200 to put the wheel in the car.

gobuffs2020 sale was in line with that and a good deal.

I. waited 4 years, bought a recked wheel off ebay and sent it out to customize it. Bought the airbag from ferr parts and fixed it.
All inabout. 2000 for a custom one after mods i think

 

I think I’m in for about $2k for mine, 2-3 years ago. Easily the single most efficient cost-benefit mod on the 355 model. As others said earlier, completely changes the steering feel of the car. The 360 wheel is much lighter, has a smaller diameter, and has a much thicker and far better contoured grip area. Looks a lot better too in my opinion! Best of luck to those on the hunt.

I also bought my wheel and airbag separately. Actually bought 2 airbags, first one had a couple very minor blemishes.

 

Also, on my early-ish US 95 Berlinetta the spade connectors for the horn on the 360 wheel were the wrong size so I rigged it with
copper wire temporarily, being fixed by my awesome shop now.

Congrats on the sale! The buyer will be thrilled.
