so...about the immobilizer turn off tune...still available and ok in Calif? I am not sure of the ecu tune but would like to be rid of the immo once and for all BEFORE I have issues with 04 spider. thanks
Well, it seems the immo causes many issues in the older cars...I was thinking remove that from my car for the future....My car is gated also...guess I'm on the fence about "tuning" the ecus for performance...
If there is a tune with immo turned off, are there any wiring changes also done or module unplugging and if so, what is changing outside of the ECUs? Thanks!
360Trev will correct me if wrong, but what he does is basically a "software" removal of the IMMO, by turning it off in the ECUs. There is no need to remove the modules or disconnect anything. In fact, if I recall correctly, you still need to modules connected as they control the remote door lock/unlock. The process is 100% reversible if you would want to restore the IMMO functionality
Yes correct Trev deleted mine only way you would want to remove them is to save weight. Only draw back with out immo, wend you cut the battery the siren goes off so I just took mine siren out.
Thank you @RANDY6005 and @Ghostdiver. BTW, my siren has already died as per Bosch design. But looking at it, the design seems to be similar to the one used in Mercedes cars (at least they look and fail the same way and probably Ferrari failed siren drains the battery in a parked car the same way Mercedes does). For Mercedes there are gadgets which intercept CAN message to the siren and instead turn on the horn. So the siren can be disconnected/removed and the horn does it's job. Has anyone done it for Ferrari? (sorry if purists find it offensive
Does the horn sound normally on USA cars? If so, I guess you're wanting to know how to stop the faulty siren turning on the LED, rather than enabling the horn? The 360 wiring diagrams show two different outputs (separate wires) from the Immobiliser ECU for the siren and the horn. If the horn doesn't normally sound in the USA, then perhaps its due to ECU programming.... or the ECU-to-horn wiring isn't fitted (?). That can be checked by shorting pin 16 of the upper plug on the Immo ECU to earth. Image Unavailable, Please Login This should sound the horn. Anyway, you'd still have to programme the system to stop the LED light coming on because of the faulty siren.
Thanks Ian, I don't know Ferrari programming too well, but that's the case with Bosch security in Mercedes - for US market cars are programmed to only use the siren and not the horn, but the same cars are programmed for other markets to use the horn. So a US market Mercedes can easily be programmed (with the right tools and know how) to a country which blows the horn (e.g. Netherlands as I recall) to use the horn. I'm thinking the main practical use of the siren is to chirp on the car locking/unlocking, alerting the user of the successful lock/unlock. If horn would take over those actions of the siren (plus making a noise when the alarm system is tripped), a failed siren could simply be removed and replaced by the horn. But since I'm already deep into too many other modifications to the car, I'll let others continue that topic if it seems useful.
Thanks, George. I know I get siren chirps on my Australian F355 when arming/disarming, but a horn when the alarm is triggered. Whether the siren sounds at the same time as the siren during the alarm, I don't know (because of the loudness of the horn). There seems to be only two part numbers for 360 Immobiliser ECUs (with the only difference mentioned being the frequency of the receiver). Same for the other cars of this era. Does this mean an SD tool is used to programme the differences? Or are the changes done by earthing certain pins on the ECU and other wiring changes made at the factory for various markets? Maybe @gobble knows this?
Hi Ian, after testing on my US market Modena, the immobilizer/alarm system is never turning on the horn (despite diagrams showing a connection from immo to the horn). But any time the siren would make sound (or horn in other markets) the hazard lights are flashing. So in summary if someone has a failed/removed siren and instead of replacing it wants a sound when arming/disarming/alarm goes off, or wants the horn for other reasons like using it to find the car in a remote parking lot location, the easiest way would be to connect the flasher input wire to the horn relay. Again, it's only for those who like modifying cars, "original" cars should stay original
You're probably right. The Spider wiring diagrams I have seem to cover both US and European cars and there are no variations shown in relation to immobiliser ECU~horn wiring. The coupe wiring diagrams I have only seem to cover European cars (as the tail light wiring is different on US cars). I guess the only way to be sure is to short that Immo ECU plug pin to ground, to see if the horn sounds. Probably not as easy as it sounds. You would need an extra relay. The Immobiliser ECU (and horn button) activates the horn by providing an earth to the horn relay. The Immobiliser ECU activates the hazard/turn lights by providing a voltage directly to the lights (as does the Hazard/Turn Module)
@360trev hey brother can u send me a pm to talk about immo off of my 2003 ferrari 360 spider i bought a flood one and change the immobilizers with the key but having issues to start the car please PM me thanks
Is this still available? I need the immobilized shut off of my 360. How can I get this software or in touch with 360trev?
