After sorting out the entire fuel injection system, timing chain, and replacing the exhaust valves, I will now install catalytic converters.

This post will document the entire process.

The reason for this is that I intend on using my 412, which is actually what they were built for! My plan is to use it as a daily driver, to and from the office, of which a lot involves using underground parking lots.

The current exhaust is very pungent and leaves my clothes with an awful smell.

I have order a pair of 2.5 inch Catalytic converters, they are supposed to be for a GMC, Chevrolet Silverado.

I used a number of online calculators and a pair of 2 inch is more than adequate.

I added two very similar cats bought from Summit Racing. Summit had them listed for 350 HPCorvette, but one per car not two; so they are low back-pressure for our cars. I had same issue of stinky exhaust at low speed/RPM. With the cats exhaust was substantially cleaner once they warm up. I have no Lambda or air pump. I think yours will work out fine.

I just came through the same issue and finally decided to reduce the cold/hot pressure difference.

The point is that I am not using the car when it is freezing outside, so there is no point in having the car so rich during startup. i've consequently modified the WUR so as to slightly reduce the pressure under cold circumstances but from memory I am far from the recommended low pressure. This makes the startup far less toxic.

Just correcting my previous comment I INCREASED the cold control pressure so as to be much closer to the hot pressure.

Thanks. Mine has a heat shield, but only on one side, which side would you place it on?

Heat shield is on the top facing the floor "pan" which is fiberglass. Don't park in tall grass!
