Does anyone know the purpose of the opening in the starter cap? I wanted it to go back as it was, but I am doubting if the small signal cable goes through... Any ideas? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like the signal wire would go through it. If it wasn't needed they would've put a larger horse on it so you know must serve a purpose.
+1 -- that SPC figure really doesn't have it shown in the proper orientation. To have the big open slot go over the wires between the solenoid and starter would require rotating it about 90 deg in that figure -- which would make that small slot about parallel and over the male spade terminal where the small terminal 50 wire would go: Image Unavailable, Please Login and having the small signal wire go thru that small slot will help keep the part in place. Does your starter/solenoid assembly match the one in this photo? Or do you have an aftermarket starter?
Thank you for the replies. My start is the original unit. The cable cannot go through, as it does not match the location...so the mystery continues. Sent from my MAR-LX1M using Tapatalk
