I'm just going to leave this here then run The World's Only Ferrari Pickup Is A Sacrilegious, Sexy Work Truck
I like it too, but for the hood scoop. Do you suppose it's even connected to the induction system? There's not enough hood clearance for the ducting needed to connect a valley-mounted fresh air intake to the CIS air boxes. Edit: Here's the explanation, in a Comment to the story: "I watched the show a while back and the car already had the American V8 engine and enough dents and body filler that it wasn't worth restoring."
I saw the TV program that featured these clowns building it. As I recall it was already a turd and had a Chevy V-8 in it. I think the scoop is there to clear a carburetor. Hopefully they saved that precious back glass. Work truck? The bed is 3 feet long and around a foot deep, maybe. Little utility in this. I think it was a deliberate jab at Ferrari purists.
If it had the original engine, the hood scoop would be gone. Over all, I think some one could sell quite a few of these. I like it.
Hmmm, replica of a desireable Ferrari model or a cobbled pick-up truck? I wouldn't need to sleep on that. There are still a lot of good parts which I predict will be it's eventual disposition.
Can't you see my wife's face when I brought this home to our ranch and told her I was going to use it to haul hay out to the horses? She'd have me locked up in under an hour.
The car was ruined anyway with that American V8 and the pick up conversion at least was done in some good taste (well, sort of). But it´s an useless car and in the end it´s no more than a jab to the purists. I´d prefer to see a shooting-break.
You are going to apply a practicality standard to a Ferrari? Well if that is the case he improved it 100 fold. Far more practical ways to haul 4 people than a Ferrari and the V8 installation, depending on the motor used is lighter, more powerful and less costly to maintain. As far as the purists go I don't think too many will lose sleep over losing a 4 passenger car that probably had an automatic transmission anyway.
I would have given it 10/10, except its missing a tow bar. I mean, who builds a ute without a tow bar ??????? M
