Nothing too fancy here. Just a simple 2 ways components speakers upgrade.

It made a very nice improvement, even with the roof down doing 70/80Mph you can still very much hear the music clearly, which was challenging with the original ones.

So, there you go, the midrange speakers, Gladen 165 SQX, tweeters and crossovers designed and produced by Gladen in Germany.

Removing the door cards. Challenging enough that switch

    Original 6.5" speaker.

    New speaker

Trying it in the door card.

    Sound deadening in progress

    Working on the tweeters

Making them to fit with a little help from my friend Dremel

Now, salvaging the original speakers grill so I could reattach it somehow the door card, so you can not tell these are not original speakers.

Decided to hot glue the grill to keep that OEM look.

    Grill in place

New speakers wire ready for the crossover

    New Gladen speaker in place

Connecting everything together and testing. Crossover hot glued to the door card.

Messy until it gets finished ;)

    BASTA!!! Job done

Car gets a clean, leather treated with Leather Master Strong Cleaner. Hoovered.

Did the factory amp provide enough power or was an upgrade needed?

    Hi,

I did not touch the amp, owner wanted to keep it simple.
    Plays louder and clearer now

    Cheers

Nice work. I'm getting ready to undertake this. Any instructions available for removing the door cards?

Make sure you have a 25 TORX and a big and small philips screw driver.
There are screws at the bottom of the door card (x3) and 2 on the inside (Towards the front of the car) behind those 2 black round covers.
Use a plastic trim remover too to pop out the handle surround.
Removing the handle is some mission. Use a flat small screwdriver to pop out the clips holding the buttons. There is the door handle hook. Tricky but you will understand.
Once you put everything back together, put the door hook first, then the 2 switches.
The passenger door is harder to get out.

Once you have handle and screws out, you will need to lift the door card at about a 45" angle from the bottom, then lift up. It is a bit hard at first, but do not hesitate to pull hard on the top on one side too to help out with the removal. There is a big screw right in the middle door, you will see it once you remove the door handle.

I was able to do it all without breaking anything, first door took me ages, second door was a lot quicker. Take your time.
