That's a good price on the silver manual if it's in Canadian dollars. A Rosso Barchetta 456M manual sold for $138K US just a little while back.

The Blu Swatters over Blue Nuovola '95 456 GT at the Paris RM Sotheby's auction (Lot 178) went for 75,750 Euro. Add 15% Buyers Premium and the French 20% VAT on the Premium, convert to dollars and you get something like $107,610. Seems like a proper result, I think.

Artcurial auction for the '02 456M GT goes off later today. Lot 84 I believe. Beautiful looking car in Azzuro Mettalizato (I think) over Blue Scuro.

The light blue car is gorgeous, and '02's are quite uncommon.

It really is gorgeous. I would prefer a bit more jazz on the interior, Daytonas, a little contrast, maybe piping but that is all nitpicking. The paint is fabulous!

Well, after Buyer's Premium and VAT on the premium, the total dollar value on the '02 456M GT (16k miles) at Artcurial was right at $100k. Went for less than the '95 at RM Sothby's. Seems surprisingly low unless there was something not right about the car upon close inspection. Anybody at the Artcurial auction than can report on condition?

If I had seen that light blue manual '02 M for sale for $100K when I was shopping last fall, I would have bought it! Even if I had to sort it out!

I'm with you! That color is fabulous on a 456 body. Best I've seen and I love my TdF.

That price looks pretty good for an M GT. The other one seems kind of high to me, since in Europe right this minute are several for sale at less, however, their asking prices don't include the road taxes. There was one in Switzerland that sold about a month ago for less as well.

I see you're in LA and Montreal so you would be the one to know. So one could purchase this car in Canada and register it in the U.S.? Import fees? I thought I read on BaT about the difficulties in buying a Canadian spec 456 and then registering it here in the U.S.

I have purchased a Canadian 456 and registered in the US. The duty is less than 3% of sales price (I always forget the exact amount.) A letter from Ferrari NA costs $300 and expedites the border crossing. Get it in advance by VIN and there are no surprises when importing. When the car comes to the US, it needs VIN verification and registration wherever it lives. Canadian and US customs have lots of information online. I came across from Victoria by ferry with about 20 other cars being imported. It's very common and easy.
I think I remember the BAT 456 in question, the commenters aren't always correct.

My research indicates a grand total of 20 2002 456M's were sent to all of North America, not sure of the ratio of GT's vs GTA's. I know for sure 125K is not enough for me to part with mine at this time or if ever.

Interesting. When I go looking for pictures of Grigio Alloy as a paint color, I see two almost seemingly very different paints. One is a silvery gray which I would expect and the other is that bright blue tint to a silver like the 456 at Artcurial. Maybe its just the lighting...

Terry, you wouldn't happen to have the auto vs. manual 1997 breakdown, would you?

$40k seems about right to me for a salvage title assuming everything has been repaired and all maintenance is up to date. Also kind of matters why it had been salvaged. I'm under the impression that a lot of F-cars get salvaged for relatively straight forward body repair that really can be fixed. Flood is an entirely different story!!

It sustained damage to the front subframe/suspension. Timing belts are 9 years old. I've spoken to the seller, it's part of a divorce settlement. Said his ex feels it's worth $59K. He's owned it for 10 years I think he said.

Right. Sent me some picks. Not of the damage but of the repair. Underneath front damage like going over a curb at speed or something like that. Email him. He might send them to you.

I was going to say 40 is steep to me, for a salvage titled car, depending on how severe and where the damage is. If the belts are 9 years old, you have to figure that no maintenance or indeed even driving has happened for nearly that long.Which would of course mean a lot expense to get the car up to speed.

Really fundamentally agree. I think $40k is the absolute max when purchase and repair/refurb end-to-end are summed. Even then, I usually think of a repaired salvage car as maxing out at roughly 60% of fair market for the model. I know I wrote the 40 but was thinking of ~2/3 of that recent BaT sale that went off at $66. And that was a dang near perfect, low mileage example. I don't think its the fair market for most Mondials. So maybe $25 before refurb and that seems generous knowing, like you said, that there are going to be a lot things found that need work.

It's a driver that needs tlc. I think 40 is not bad. Most cars will need valve guides eventually so any car that hasn't had that done is looking at a major.
