Fronts are out of stock, expected in 60 to 90 days, so I'll probably wait and order all four at the same time.

My 456GT is now almost a daily driver! We (F club Finland) an event on Saturday, so tomorrow will be the only day this week that I haven’t driven her. Six out of seven days a week, 107.000kms and pulling strong!

we just had an F-club event, nice places, nice weather etc,

Street view from a person standing by the street. There was another Finnish 456GT (1994) there as well, we’re the 5th car and it’s funny as I only spun the rear wheels once, but the tyre screech you can hear in the beginning, well that’s me! And the horn is me as well.

There were kids by the road signalling us that we should honk. So I did them a favour. Cheers!



Ps. There was again an 812 GTS and a 599GTO right behind us. And one Roma.

Again a bit more summer driving.

Ever since I installed the catalytic converters, there’s a slight jerkiness / roughness at idle and under load at around 1800rpms.

I thought it would go away, but it hasn’t, the car runs great and I got 15,5L/100km with 95E10 with the latest tank, mixed urban driving so nothing terribly wrong.

But if I push her hard, and drive fast with gears 2, 3 and 4, I occasionally get the SDL only on the RH side. And if I look at the exhaust pipes it looks like RH side is running hotter? Weak mixture? Or leaking injectors and too much fuel?

Awwww, maybe I need to get some sort of an exhaust gas analyser?

In the end I put a couple of 275/40/17 Nexus on as they were available locally and seem to work well but the car is now sold.

 

Question- does a USA spec 1997 model year car have OBD2 ? (On board Diagnostics for emissions controls). I thought I read somewhere that there was a change over on engine management systems from 95-96 to a different system in 97

Does your car have the 5.2 engine management system?

There is a Ferrari service bulletin FNA - 22- A (October 1995) relating to the modfication of the OBD2 port wiring which shows all 456's are affected, but this may be a mistake.

Yes it does. I had one.

 

Affirmative, all US spec cars built after 1 January 1996 required OBDII, even if Ferrari did try to leave out a connector to make it work. Should all be fixed now and 97 MY 456 GTs and GTAs have Motronic 5.2. That is why there are no MY 96 456s.

i hit a new milestone today, looks very binary!

Sorry for the long hiatus, but I had to live 11 months without my car.

it’s a long story, but to cut it short, if you are running rich on either side and have cats, fix it immediately. My car was running rich on the right hand side. A coil failure was diagnosed, no spark on 1 and 6. I got a new coil and thought all was well.

Last June after 2 hours of driving to catch a ferry (Nordic Ferrari meet) the RH catalytic converter caught fire! Although the fire was out in less than a minute and damage looked minimal (windscreen washer hose) it took 11 months to get it repaired via insurance.

On Friday we should be in Sweden. On Sunday we should be in Germany.
