I would have to assume that permission was asked from Ferrari to do this. They MUST have asked IMO.

Could have been a case where Ferrari gave them the car for 1 day and they had no choice.

The driver was probly pissed he was put through that insanity.

I agree, that was the stupidest video ever. Listening to his voice laughing while the rain is pouring made it worse. Such a shame this is even allowed on this type of car.

Why? It's the factory's car, and it's being driven with permission. It's not someone's pride and joy.

And the factory probably said it was fine to put the top down.

Top down when the sun up and close the top when raining…….. we enjoy sun shine while driving therefore we open the top but raining…. better close as tight as possible cos no matter what a lot electronic set up in the cabin, they aren't made to stand pouring water, it may be water resistant but not water proof for sure. I feel that If Ferrari allow and approve to do this review then Ferrari mislead the user. It is just personally my opinion.

No matter!! It is a question of respect for the product and the craftsmanship that went into it.
I once rented a simple base Porsche Panamera and nicked one of the rims on a curb, it made me depressed for a week. :(

I think I must be missing something - it's a car. I drive my cars a lot and sometimes hard and I put quite a few miles on them. My last two Ferraris - maybe 15,000km/year. When I read these forums I'm constantly staggered by how little people drive their cars and by how worried they are about what the next owner wants. I've driven my spider in the rain with the top down and actually the bulk of the rain doesn't come in the cabin. I wipe it down afterwards and I make sure my car has had the leather etc. treated and is well looked after. When I get my Aperta next year that will get used a lot as well - maybe it will get a little wet too. Does that mean I don't respect Ferrari? I think I respect Ferrari more by driving my car and enjoying it than leaving it in the garage or putting it on a pedestal. Maybe my view is the minority!!

Abusing a car and acting foolish hardly establishes one as a better owner who is enjoying their car better than a non abuse.

In regards to my views on this video. It's wrong on so many levels. You can start anywhere but as an avid Ferrari fan who loves seeing these cars driven the way they meant for driving this was the dumbest most pointless video one could possible make of the hottest car to be hitting the market. Are you kidding me the guy made the whole video of him being an ass and shocking people by driving with the top open in a rain storm ? Talk about lame and a total waste. I want to see the car used the way it was meant not some yahoo acting like a fools driving car open top in rain storm laughing ? That is entertaining ?

Either way my views as pointless as this video I just think the video should have shown more real driving then shock value and laughing like a chimp because the interior is full of water ?

Evo did a chit job with this video it's best to leave these test runs to guys like Chris Harris.

I guess what can you expect when you ask a boy to do a mans job.

RDI - let's agree to differ I like Ferrari and am happy to have owned some and to have the new Aperta coming next year. I treat my cars as a tool for driving pleasure and make sure they are well looked after. I use them daily in all weathers if they couldn't handle that I wouldn't buy them. Getting a little rain or dirt on them doesn't bother me - nothing that a good cleaning won't sort. The guy in the video was enjoying the car in a way which isn't to your liking - he had fun you didn't - I guess it's as simple as that

You are correct agree to disagree , I'm positive in life you also learn to agree with others?

We established we both agree to disagree when comes to owning these cars to each their own right. ? With that said we can both AGREE driving an open top car in a thunder storm is the stupidest thing to do? These cars are in no way designed to have the interior hammered by a thunderstorm. After all Ferrari designed these open top cars to have a power top that means when it rains you use the power top to cloth the roof so you don't ruin the interior and electronics since the car is not waterproof.

In closing enjoy the car the way you chose since you paid for it. I'm just saying 98% of owners Ferrari brand attracts enjoy their cars to fullest while taking care of them. Making reference to a little dirt on the car and driving in a thunderstorm open top don't even compare , not the same . Again you are right we can both agree to disagree I still say anyone who does that with a 458sa is an ass and it's a shame to see a nice car being abused. Similar to the guy with the Enzo off roading it for hits on a video.

With respect.....(you know what's coming)....that is a load of rubbish. These cars are fine with a bit of rain on them. A press drive gets booked weeks in advance and the journalist/mag will not get another chance to do it again until well after other publications have printed. If it rains? Tough.

Or do you think he should have done the test with the roof up, like, er, the coupe?! I can tell you, Ferrari, who have now closed the Speciale order book, would have considered the whole thing a waste of time to have driven with only the top up. Even if it costs a few extra hours for the valet team to spruce things up again with the car, what is that against the PR value of an EVO test?

Can't believe the short-sightedness with some comments here. This is business. And a great video, from an excellent journalist.

It's a car. It will dry. Pretty sure Ferrari is quite happy with the video.

"Leave these things to Chris Harris"? Why?
