    Navy blue, with a white stripe across the hood, the Rob Walker car?

    That's the race he won while playing music on the radio......

    Correct. Rob Walker´s car. The race what Moss won, was TT 1960 in Nassau-Bahamas. With the 2119GT 250GT 1960 model. the Hotwheels model will be the 61 Berlinetta competizione 2735GT Walker/wilkins team car.

    Best regards

    Regarding the 458 GT2 specifically:

    Are these *only* in the "Elite" versions, or will there be a "regular" 1:18 H/W version of the 458 GT2? Anyone know what the price will be and when available?

    In a more general sense, for a 1:18 Hot Wheels newbie, can someone tell me what makes an "Elite" model, "Elite"? Or define the various quality levels of the 1:18 H/W models? I've seen some that look pretty darn nice, and some, well, less so. ;)

    Thanks,

    gp

    the Elite version features ;

    * Calipers , Disc Brakes
    * More realistic Tires
    * Windows
    * Carpeted Interior
    * More detailed lights including a few more pieces than the regular HW
    * Heavier weight
    etc.

    about a Euro 79 € for the ELITE
    whereas the regular HW sell for Euro 39 € approximately

    Blame it on the "snob" who wanted to pay more for the same thing

    Thanks very much for that description. In the OP, there is listed an "Elite GT" and an "Elite Special Edition". Are the extra details listed above the "Special Edition"?

    I'm very interested in the 458 GT2 Presentation version, but not sure which to buy (the "Elite GT" X2860, or the "Elite Special Edition" X5491) or what the price difference will be...

    Thanks again,

    gp

    I hope Hot Wheels' plans also include a 1/18 FF and 458 Spider. I will definitely pick up the 308GT4, 348, and F355 if the quality is as nice as it is on previous releases like the F430 Scuderia, 458 Italia, California, and 599GTO. Great bang for the buck here!

    FF Is already done and will be soon available. But Not still on the market. Maybe arrive for Christmas. 458Spider and 458 challenge are included in the 2012 Elite Hotwheels list of new features.

    Elite Hotwheels prices in Europe, vary by the country. On Spain, today the standard price is 80-85€.Next year, probably 90€

    Nice to see more Ferraris being made. The detail is improving too. Just purchased an Elite black 599 GTO with red interior and very pleased with it.

    hi GP,

    as the prices that are called here are list prices let me tell you that you will get here in europe Elite models around 45 Euro and regualr "Foundation" called models around 30 Euro. Not only that Elite models are build much better mostly they have metal hoods intead of plastic carpets inside against plain plastic and much more details. For me a model car collector it's not a question to take the elite. The new ones are likely on the standard of the older Kyosho models and sometimes match the quality of todays AA or Kyosho. Just take a look at the 599XX in my Opinion a incredible car that will sell around 50 Euro here what is just insanly cheap for what will be offert. The Special Elite models are based on the elite but have some more details mostly photo etch parts but sometimes you can't tell a difference and mostly no big difference. I have a silver black 410 Superamerica and skiped the Special Elite as I couldn't see any difference other then the color and the V8 Cali had sort of "real" leather seats that looked just awful so I stayed with the regular Elite. A Friend of mine even sold his Special Elite Cali to that reason.
    Finally to make a advice. If you seriously into collecting and you want the best model for a good price but no toy because you are enthusiastic about details like caliber breakes photo etch parts etc. take the Elite Verions, Foundation models are more like toys and Special Elite are mostly (not always) ripp offs or just compare them in stores or go to diecastxchange com they compare them sometimes.

    I've seen a 458 Spider HW Elite version on eBay but nowhere else. I see HW have released both 1/43 and 1/18 versions. Can't wait to get my hands on both!

    No you haven't.
    You have seen a picture taken from Mattel's site used in an auction for a pre-order. The only thing mattel has released are the news that they will make it and pictures of their pre-production prototype.

    This is fairly easy to answer. It will blow the UT out of the water.
    Let me say why. Without even having seen any preproduction shots, here are some things that are almost certain about the mattel Elite release, judging by what they have been doing lately.
    It will have opening front hood
    It will have pop up headlights
    It will have accurate hinges on the doors instead of dog legs.
    it will have nicely detailed brakes
    it will have nicely detailed interior with carpet, belts, photo etched emblems etc.
    It will have metal engine hood
    It will have a nice multi piece 3 dimensional engine with nice detail.
    Last but not least, it will not have sticky wheels and melting tires and most likely will be lacking the orange peel in the paint too.
    Considering what the old original Hot Wheels 355 looked like, any of these things just by itself would make a new model an improvement over the UT.
    They were really great for their time and were nicer than anything else in 1:18, but they are at toy level by todays model standards.

    I just received one of the 458 GT2 cars and I think it is great for the money. Really glad that I ordered one.

    Here's what puzzles me: why aren't these cars sold in brick and mortar stores any longer or, if they are, where? I haven't seen a Hot Wheels 1/18 in any local store in many years.

    Lastly, the Hotwheels Elite accuracy is superb. As we can seen on this two next new models. Against, the price of the models are too expensive :(
