Thanks for all the pictures - really appreciate them - not sure if I really like the design or not - but my initial reaction usually changes over time - cars i didn't like in the beginning I loved and owned later

The "track car" branding these days is retarded. 99% of Speciales are driven on the street exclusively and same will true for the 675LT. GT3, Speciale, 675LT, GT3 RS, 670 SV, R8 GT, LP750 SV, SL570 -- all of these car are driven almost exclusively on the street.

Cars compete with whatever else is out there in the same niche. No one says, "I'm not cross shopping car X because it's not marketed as a competitor to car Y." If your 675LT is too loud, just add the carpets back in and switch the ISG to quiet mode. It will be a little bumpier and a little louder than a 650S.

People buy what they like and what they can afford. It's a 2-seater, mid-engine exotic looking, several hundred grand. 488/650S/675LT/Huracan/R8 are all competitors. People buy which one they think is the coolest.

this is so true. i never found the maclaren particularly good looking, same goes for R8, and the huracan front is nice but it lacks something in the rear, sort of reminds me of a fish the way it bulbs then just abruptly ends.

the 458 and by extension the 488 just look elegant compared to these other cars. maccas don't have that style, they seem more technical. my last lambo groaned and creaked like an old italian man eating german food. i may revisit the brand to see if anything has changed.

but as i can afford any of these cars, my first choice based on appearance alone is still the ferrari 488

It's not all about marketing. I have friends who had the standard car (i.e. the 430) and cound't stand the Scuderia as it was too loud and raw for them. I have no such issues, but a lot of people do not want the raw model.

The biggest problem though is that the 670 is a limited production model and few people will cross shop between it and a 488.

When I saw the first official photos of the 488 (the CGI photos) I said that it was one of my favourite Ferrari's ever.
Now having seen the real thing I have to say that my excitement has dropped, quite significantly..

I can't put my finger on it but it's not that 10/10 I first thought it was. The front looks a bit odd and the side intake is too big and the plastic on the rear doesn't help either.
Maybe I will change my mind yet again in the future but as for now I'm a bit dissappointed. It's not ugly by any means, it's beautiful no doubt, but it isn't as fantastic as I thought at first.
