Regarding the position of the wheels, sometimes they are moved in the official pictures... The 488 GTB is lower on the first official shots than on reality, just compare: http://ferrari-view.4me.it/api/xcontents/resources/delivery/getThumbnail/ferrari/960x540/6037c8cb-ca0c-4156-814f-74eb6ebd83e5?v=3 with http://ferrari-view.4me.it/api/xcontents/resources/delivery/getThumbnail/ferrari/960x540/be077a76-56b8-4fc1-bf31-0d652dcb4390?v=3
I agree......I think the car looks great and CAN'T WAIT for the technical videos to be released from Ferrari........just sad that Ferrari missed out on (maybe their last) chance to make a true blue GTO based on a car that actually races. The only way they could make an even more bona fide GTO was to pull a Ford and use the old group B trick and reverse engineer a homologation. Make the track car first then homologate it for road use.......but I don't see that happening
A tragedy indeed....Pista....omg...really? I never thought Ferrari would get so cocky to call it such a name. I guess it must really perform well to get away with it. But then again does it beat Gt2RS? At least the 2rs tach doesn't lie....and isn't called "Pista"...OMG!!! Out of all the available names just why?? Give me a drink!!
If I were a Challenge driver, I would like to get more than some standard and livery option, maybe a GT3 adapted to the road with special aero tricks.
You're being a bit rough there Lesia. It' isn't ugly by a long shot even though the name is admittedly regrettable on all accounts. In comparison to 720 it's still a supermodel. As disappointed as you may well be, don't kid yourself.
Now, I could be wildly mistaken... But I couldn't help noticing some inconsistencies between these "leaked" pictures and what we've seen in official teaser videos. The most glaring one is the number plate: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Then there's the front end: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login What do you think? (P.S. all pictures were sourced from this thread)
Those pics are so grossly photoshopped that I´ll reserve my jugdement about the looks for now. About the name, it´s less insulting than GTO and it´s not Ferrari´s fault if you can´t speak Italian.
agree.. and I still miss central lock wheels, GT3 Style Mirrors... but I'm sure for 120K we should get something exciting? or just another stripe?
Modern race/rally cars don't need homologation specials these days. Couple of Variant Kit packages can change stock Fiesta into 350 HP, all-wheel drive Fiesta WRC. 488 GTE can be succesful racer based on stock 488 GTB The last GTO - 599 is said to be detuned 599XX. Is it proper "GTO"? I'm not really sure... Ferrari could take 488 Challenge body and engine, soften suspension a little, remove rear wing and change seats. You could call it a real "GTO". But would it be drivable all-rounder?
I wouldn't say It's a tragedy..but there are definitely better names. Unfortunately jokes are already running around, nothing we can do about it.
hey don't you know the PC world we live in today?? Its not my fault for not being able to speak Italian.....its Ferrari's fault for not been tolerate and accepting to change for me even if it is their car. Don't make me report this to fake news...
The previous hardcore names starts with an S. Stradale, Scuderia and Speciale... Skickat från min MHA-L29 via Tapatalk
https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/ferrari-488-pista-2018 Interesting that Autocar UK say that the pics/name were leaked on FChat ...No mention of where we got the pics from : Autocar Japan! Can imagine Ferrari will not be at all amused....
Ferrari's official pictures are renders, sometimes quite poorly photoshoped (i.e. in offical Portofino images wheels have different sizes). In video they show a real car. So I wouldn't bother about number plate. Front bonnet shape looks same to me.
The inevitable pasta and pizza jokes aside, I love the name. We'll revisit this is a few years when the name is legendary.
A good name does not need to be sold hard - it sounds hard naturally.. Pista - well sounds like pasta and pizza...which it is. Italian no doubt....if that counts.
