Found out on the weekend that the company responsible for making the dies for the carbon wheels that Carbon tech make for the Pista is around the corner from me. What a coincidence I have used the same shop for aluminium fabrication for 15 years and the got the gig. And add also that Carbon Tech is in Geelong where I was born. Great to see there is a little of Australian Technology in a FERRARI !
Image Unavailable, Please Login I thought this was interesting. This is a page out of the recent Ferrari quarterly earnings report from May 3rd. It clearly lists the Pista as a limited edition car keeping company with some pretty impressive models. Obviously they will make more Pista’s than LaFerrari’s, for example, but it sheds light on how Ferrari themselves view the Pista within their portfolio.
Not really. The chart above was introduced only in the 2017 Quarter 1 presentation. But if you go back to the 2015 IPO filing they describe the product portfolio on page 1 of https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1648416/000164841615000004/newbusinessnetherlands.htm as We currently sell eight models, including six sports cars (458 Italia, 488 GTB, 458 Spider, F12berlinetta and our special series 458 Speciale and 458 Speciale A) and two GT cars (California T and FF). calling both the Speciale and the Speciale - A special series even though the latter was clearly a numbered (499) limited edition. Further in that presentation they classify the product line into design, engineer and sell our special series, limited edition and one-off cars I think the slides from the investor call a few days ago is a presentational convenience. I doubt anyone would call a production running into thousands (3500?) a limited edition. Most likely, this car follows the same pattern as the Speciale, followed by the Aperta. I doubt we should read anything into this slide. As an aside, Ferrar's classification itself is sometimes at odds with what the wider world uses: They call F12 a sports car while most magazines would say GT.
I think the chart is what it says. The Pista is a limited series model. Obviously, there are some models that are more limited than others. The Pista certainly won’t be in rarified numbers like the LaFerrari or TDF, and I don’t think anyone is suggesting otherwise. Still, it will be produced in far less numbers than the 488 GTB, so it falls somewhere in the middle. For me, it’s less about the numbers than it is about the pure excitement the care evokes. I really loved my 488 GTB but I couldn’t be more excited about the Pista. The performance numbers are insane, the car looks amazing and from all accounts it sounds incredible.
Limited... Every car has a limited production... The "limited" production means you know in advance how many units will be produced, otherwise it's a joke. They will do as many as they can do. The 328 GTS was "limited" to 6028 pieces and you can find them everywhere around the world. I bet 488 Pista will be no less than 3000 (a lot) Ciao
As mentioned by sweater man during the first quarter Q&A, he said the Pista's are SOLD out. If that is true then all the allocations have already been given to the dealers.
When I have asked my dealer they tell me they know definitively how many allocations they have for 18'-19' but unsure for 20' so not sure how he can claim sold out.
488 replacement likely to be launched Sept 2019 at Paris/Frankfurt. So unlikely much 2020 Pista production Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Exactly. The same thing happened with the F430 when they changed over to the 458. Coupe orders stopped first and were all given to Scuderias. The spider was available until the end but went out of production several months before the 458 coupe showed up. There was a gap of about a 18 months of no spiders (aside from a small amount of Apertas). That means, there is a limited supply of Pista's from now until the end of 488 production.
If the pattern repeats, a September unveiling means actual deliveries 6 months later, so well into 2020 - the 488 GTB was presented in March 2015 (Geneva) but the Speciale were delivered at least until October (overlapping the first 488).
