Although I may be out of step with general feeling, to my mind Apple Car Play and the like seem a great feature. The issue is that unlike most systems in cars they provide more of a "Window" onto your phone, not a piece of installed hardware. Although nothing is guaranteed, I would hazard a guess that as long as they do not screw up the implementation in these early cars, as time progresses you will see that the car will get the benefit of improvements in the phones themselves. In my opinion, despite the cost, it is an option worth paying for on cars in general. Of course the Pista is a special case - unless they bring out a cheap track-day App that replicates the Ferrari one......
So Ferrari has done it again! Give you a car that is 20% better but charges you 50% more in pricing! I must be a sucker, because I still want one!
I remember when the Speciale came out, the reviews more or less said- its a great car, but it doesn't feel that much more than an Italia. Now looking back, the reviewers are saying: wow, the Speciale was a huge difference! And now they say similar things about the Pista. I think there is likely real depth here for which these early reviews simply cannot grasp.
The car is remarkable. A friend of mine who is also getting a Pista put it perfectly - "for those of us that don't operate at the supercar level, the Pista, both with its design and performance, is our Enzo and LaFerrari". I can't wait.
To get something "better" you would have to spend a lot more. IMO it looks fantastic from every angle. I have a sneaky suspicion that Ferrari may have juiced it up beyond the claimed HP. We will know soon enough. Too bad for me I will have to wait a bit longer as I canceled my Lusso order but can live through some others until then.
All I can say is when I saw the presentation on the Pista I could tell they have gone to the extreme on this car. Just as you would hope they have. The measures they have employed are astounding: (from memory and in no real order)- the new "power fill" to remove any hint of turbo lag (theres none in the GTB!) this comes right from F1 I am told; the Inconel headers; the redesigned airflow; the lighter engine materials and also they generate less friction; the special sensors on the turbos to get real time data on their spinning vs sensors near or outside the turbo that estimate in the GTB; the brake pre fill; where can I end? They took a stupendous car (GTB) and somehow made it even more- it feels like they made it much more. We will find out soon enough! I think they have done an amazing job. And then they dressed it in a gorgeous shape!
They’re both the Italian flags that follows the line of the car. It makes sense to put them there on both cars so I don’t think there’s some ripp off situation here.
Except that Pista Racecario follows Performante with too similar an effort. Not that I care, just noticing it looks like my Perf.
Good review. Interesting comments about the sound. https://www.google.com/amp/amp.timeinc.net/thedrive/new-cars/21494/2019-ferrari-488-pista-first-drive-review-in-italy-the-pista-is-a-real-pissah%3fsource=dam

Finally went in to spec the Pista today. Was a fun process made easy buy the new config iPad tool. There are some really fun stripe configs possible compared to the Speciale.
You can only configure a Pista at a dealer. There currently isn't an online configurator (though these are normally just for fun).
