Morning, when opening the doors on my 550, it just feels they open to far! to the point where I am worried that the leading edge is going to get damaged in the door shut / hinge side.

I am sure i have read somewhere years ago about a door strap issue on the 550, but cant find the thread anywhere?

and guidance, help or upgrade advice very much appreciated.

    thanks
    Mark

I had a similar problem years ago. I had to replace the check rod assembly (65195200) and the "SX plate door" (63895300). One of the studs on the check rod had broken and the plate had also broken in half and the lower bit fell out. Not sure which was first to fail.

I replaced both and it's been perfect for many years.

the part pictured #56(vertical pin) needed replacing, the mechanic noted that the long heavy doors are too much for the parts, just don't open the doors all the way, was the advice

Its important to replace the pins whenever playing / adjusting with door alignment as they wear out over time
