Hi all, need some feedback. I own a 599 HGTE and I distinctly hear a slight creaking noise when accelerating from start. More so if the accelerator is depressed more than normal in first gear. It's as though the sound emits when the frame of the car moves slightly from rest. Is this normal? What could the possible reasons be? There is no undercarriage noise when going over uneven road surfaces when cruising so I didn't think it was a lower arm issue. Is it because of the HGTE stiffer springs ? Need as much feedback as possible, thanks, especially from HGTE owners. Kevin
I think I have the same issue in my 09 599 , not an HGTE. I'm going to check it when I drop the car to the dealer for the annual service in few days.
Mine has always done this and has new shocks, I suspect it's just a bit of give in the drivetrain mounts given the amount of power going through it Pretty sure I remember both my GTBs doing it too
is noise 'light' OR "moderate" i have seen noisy front wheel liners, caused by flexing in front fenders, installing felt at mounting points between liner and body will stop this, hope this helps
I’ve got the same issue on my 2011 HGTE. I had a 2016 MB e63 that made the same sound, usually at low speeds, going up a curb, putting flex on the frame would create loud creaking noise. In the MB it was a few frame bolts not torqued down and locktighted properly from the factory. Anyone know of this being an issue with the 599? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Kevin, That creaking noise you hear will only occur on 1st gear and louder only the first time you accelerate, especially in the morning. As you drive further, the creaking sound gets almost inaudible but it's still there. It is the sound of a bearing in the rear-mounted transmission when it's cold or starting to wear out. There's a long post about it him the 599 chat room that I participated in back in mid-2018 with details of which bearing is the culprit, but I can't recall the main topic itself for easy search. It's a simple replacement of a bearing without dropping the tranny. I had an '07 GTB (the first 599 imported into F of Atlanta in late 2006) that started to have that annoying sound (like a shortened creak from a cricket) around 15k miles. My current '11 HGTE didn't produce that sound until it reached 22k miles. Butch
As butch said, but also check the Torque tube, I've had my diff rebuilt and should have had the Torque tube done at the same time but 2 years after its becoming a small issue - when it goes in in Jan it will get fixed.
