A shame US cars couldn’t order the carbon Sabelt seats - never understood why? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Image Unavailable, Please Login GTO has aged remarkably well despite 12 years. It’s higher roof (something that changed with F12 onwards) but the design is far more cohesive. Jason Castriota masterpiece. The 812 c-pillars ape the flying buttresses. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I think the reason is FNA wanted electronic adjustment to be standard for the USA cars, the seats are carbon-backed though. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That said, it appears many European/ROW 599 GTOs did spec electric seats as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Agreed. Here are some GTOs caught in the wild on the streets of London, seeing one on the road being used is a special thing, they sound epic, the black example UK-registered LA11TLV is the same one Marcel spotted in London a few days ago. Factory painted 3D Italian flag below the shields on my GTO. This was considered a 'highly unusual' request by the factory at the time for a production car and became a precursor to what eventually would be the Tailor-made program to cater for such requests. View attachment 3550506
179818, painted in timeless Verde Inglese. Also note extremely rare deletion of Scuderia shields and GTO badge. Image Unavailable, Please Login
An interesting aside about the purchase of a GTO. Here in South Africa one was invited by the factory to purchase the car, in this instance a factory representative flew over to explain the car they would be building, consider that this was before the car was launched and before any public details were available. A very unique and special experience!
I believe there are a handful of Verde Inglese 599 GTOs all stunning. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's a French-registered example with shields, I'm not 100% sure it's VI but I think so, the roof looks a different color from a different angle. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And another with yellow calipers & black wheels, Polish-registered I think. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think you have inspired this USA-based gentleman who wanted to say Vive La France! This one is a post-production application, he had Ferrari's coachbuilder apply the flags, hand-painted and then clearcoated. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A good representation of the 599 GTO's sound, as recorded in California and titled 'An Opera in V12' Turn up the volume.
I seem to recall one of the factory test drivers had this verde GTO out with the half cage. He shared a picture of that GTO before shipment.
Great thread. Here's the first GTO I ever experienced (from the passenger seat). A friend ordered it new and kept it for a few years. Monstrous car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Perhaps something unique to the GTO,which directly flowed from the 599 XX but to no other road going Ferrari are the brake "donuts" which are quite noticeable in this picture. Image Unavailable, Please Login
