Thanks, I did not realize so few were built. For Ferrari, the upgrade seems like to was quite a bargain when new given everything that was included in the package.

How does Ferrari assign the chassis numbers, my 2010 HGTE was delivered in September 2010 at the F. dealer (in the Middle East) and the chassis number starts with 172xxx

Bwclark's is 173130 and also from 2010 ... are they made chronologically or they jump digits ?

Chassis numbers/VINs are assigned as part of the ordering process and assembly numbers are assigned as the car reaches the assembly line.

Missed part of the question above. Up until serial number 75000, Ferrari used odd numbers only for street Ferraris (Dinos and competition cars used even numbers). Beginning with that Testarossa (75000), Ferrari started using both even and odd numbers for VINs/SNs.

 

HGTE was presented at Geneva Car Show in march 2009, first deliveries in late 2009

I used to own a 599 Alonso Edition ZFF60FCA8B0187350. MY 2011, but production date was actually 03/2012, so it must have been one of the very last 599s to come off the line. Cheers, Mark

You can add mine too. Been looking for a nice one to pop-up in Hong Kong for a while and just bought a great one: 161194 - rosso corsa - black/red full leather interior.

 

You can add another one. I looked for a nice example in Hong Kong for a while and now finally got one. VIN ZFFFD60C000161194. It's rosso corsa with black/red leather interior. Looks great!

Pls check if mine is on your list - '07 599 GTB (Sept '06 build) Rosso Corsa / Full Recaro Daytona style Natural Cuoio seats with black inserts, CCB with red calipers, VIN #ZFFFC60A770150566. Currently at 14,400+ miles. I have the original colored window sticker laminated in plastic.

If you got the info before, it'd be interesting to know who owned it at that time. Apparently according to my FSB dealer, it was once owned by a well known (Hollywood?) celebrity but they wouldn't reveal the name.

Hi, Butch... I have no celebrity associated with your car; doesn't mean it's not true, I just have no information about it.

The original owner of your car was Jimmy Sewell of Atlanta. The car was damaged on the way from Italy to America, but Jimmy insisted on having it on time for his birthday (there was a scratch above the passenger's side wheel, and a big dimple in the roof). This car was built in September, 2006 (engine number 110462, assembly number 67445), and it was the first 599 delivered through Ferrari of Atlanta; it's also the first 599 I ever saw in person.

Ferrari of Atlanta had it for sale in November, 2007, with 3,465 miles. Then Ferrari Beverly Hills had it for sale through the Ferrari Market Letter in August, 2011, "one owner, 5,000 miles, $210,000."

I saw it again, 29 April 2013 and 14 June 2013, in the Ferrari Beverly Hills showroom; it's been off my radar until I just saw your post.

Thanks for the info on my car's provenance. That's interesting it's the first 599 you'd ever seen. I had a thought of it being a very early US model given its lower s/n and I do have a copy of its 4-page Carfax report.

So it was purchased (by Jimmy Sewell per your account) on Oct 26, 2006 and first titled in Georgia with 101 miles on Nov 2006. However, a second owner bought it on Nov 16, 2007 with 3,465 miles and its last report from Ferrari Atlanta was dated Jan 31, 2011 with 4,956 miles. Then it showed up in CA for emission testing with 5,095 miles on July 15, 2011, so it seems FBH bought it from Ferrari Atlanta. Now I'm wondering how FBH claimed it as a "one owner" car on the Ferrari Market Letter?

Hmmm! Unless the second owner was actually Ferrari Atlanta who turned it into an "executive" car.

Interesting to also note re the shipping damages as you mentioned since Carfax didn't mention any body repairs. Carfax did indicate that the leaking valve covers/gaskets were replaced in May 2007. However I suppose that if any body damage repair goes unreported to an insurance company or to the states' police / DMV record (meaning to say, fixed by the owner or by Ferrari pre delivery at their own or guilty party's expense), there's no way Carfax or any other similar reporting service will ever know. Or is there?

I was told the unnamed "huge celebrity" bought it from FBH. Likewise, I know the name of the most previous owner Jimmy Chang of Rancho Palos Verdes who paid $158+K outright cash for it at FBH in April 2015 with 9,071 miles then left it at FSB for resale in Dec 2017 with 13,253 miles.

There is another factory-HGTE in Switzerland, 168 613 Argento Nurburing with black interior.
Funny that there are two following VIN (168 613 & 168 614) which are both HGTE and in Switzerland!

I believe the Swiss had some unique requirements at one time. Not sure If they still do. Ferrari often groups cars on the assembly line with similar requirements (US/CDN spec, B Euro specl).
