Ferrari 599 radio cover

Ask your dealer to order part 261198, this is the wheel and mechanism closing and opening the radio cover. It cost me 20 USD for the part - and 1 hour to have it changed. I did it on my 599 GTO after my son broke the mechanism opening the radio cover. Your dealer is trying to screw you with this "overhaul kit".

Do you know the part number for a 599 GTB? 261198 only fits 599 GTO and SA models according to Eurospares.UK.

261198. I bought one and it fits.

There are two different dampers (Ferrrari call it a "Dumper") for the radio cover depending on the assembly number of the car. Up to assembly number 79962 the replacement dumper is #243895, and from assembly number 79963 the dumper is #261198. They both fit on the left side of the radio cover housing assembly, but the early one is held in with two phillips head screws and the late one snaps into place.

 

Seeking procedure for replacing the dumper for the cover on my 599. Can anyone please assist. Thanks!

 

I got mine last Week it's easy Job just a lot of screws

 

The best thing you can do is to download the service manual and search for demper or Dumpert

Many thanks Robin, PM sent. I hope it's a simple procedure. On the other hand the tachometer light also went off and maybe there will be a major removal work but I hope it's just a fuse.

 

would it still be possible to get info on replacement of the radio cover damper replacement? i now have a 599 with a defective radio cover closer. thank you for your help. rick

 

My wife "OPENED'" my radio cover which naturally stripped the dumper gear. After a few choice words, I decided to keep her.

 

Which one, the car or the wife?

PS: I just keep my car's cover in the 'tucked in' position since it's just a "cosmetic", but expensive and trouble laden feature.
