With Ferrari being 60 years old in 2007 I though I would try and capture the best I could what Ferrari means to us Ferraristi. At this point I would like to apologize for any grammar of spelling errors, I have checked the piece over a few times so there shouldnt be anything major, whether its a good piece of writting I will let you the readers decide.

"Looking back at 60 years of Ferrari its hard not look back at a very special era, look back with respect and awe to some legendary drivers, drivers that have shaped the views of generations. It’s hard not to look back at the engineers that created these machines without expressing a certain amount of awe and respect. Most of all, its hard to look back at the life of Enzo Ferrari and not be truly thankful that he got up off that park bench, got up and fought through massive odds to achieve his dream. Perhaps the hardest thing of all is to not be seduced by this history and the romance that surrounds it.

In 60 years Ferrari and its partners have created not only cars but they have created and become a legend of the modern time. There is something breathtaking about a Ferrari that calms the eyes but fires the soul, the exotic curves of legends like the 250 GTO, the almost impossibly beautiful sports races of the 60’s of which the P3, P4 series must be the crowning glory of a stable of cars that are today revered the world over. It’s doubtful that back in the 60’s anyone at Ferrari realized what they were creating.

Generations of school boys have had pictures of the car stuck up on their bedroom walls, generations have dreamed of sitting being that steering wheel, dreamed of having the black prancing horse stare back at them, dreamed of what a Ferrari feels like to drive and dreamed of winning a World Championship in a scarlet racing car bearing the prancing horse.

Throughout the 10 years I have been a Ferrari enthusiast there hasn’t been one day when I haven’t though about the cars, thought about those people past and present who have helped shape this company, thought about famous races like the Targa Florio or even though about what it would be like to see a P3 or a P4 in person. Fortune has smiled on me and I have been a few Ferraris and driven two and that feeling of adrenaline and emotion is hard to describe, the weight of history, the knowledge of some of the greats that have driven for Ferrari, all this conspires to create an experience that remains untouched in the motoring world.

Ferrari isn’t merely a maker of cars, it inspires people, allows people to dream and most of all allows one the chance to appreciate that nothing is truly impossible.

Understanding the history of Ferrari is both fascinating and rewarding, with internet the world has become small, its easy to share the love of Ferrari, easy to sit in awe of people that own some incredible examples of future classic and current classics, but what’s more amazing is that in the Ferrari world everyone shares, there is a certain camaraderie among Ferrari owners and enthusiasts.

Let me conclude by saying this. To own a Ferrari is to be part of a legend, to be near Ferrari is the start of a dream and appreciate a Ferrari is one of the greatest pleasures motoring can offer.

I might sound like a sad individual but somehow I think the people here will understand…" COPYRIGHT JR
