I recently purchased a 308GTSi, which I thought was in perfect shape. Well, three weeks after I bought it, I realized that it was in good shape, but not in perfect shape. I got home from a drive, and, while backing the car in the driveway, I noticed that it was running on 4 or 5 cylinders. I quickly cut the engine off, and pushed the car in the garage. The next morning I started the car…and, unfortunately, the problem hadn’t fixed itself. It seemed that engine was running on 4 or 5 cylinders at low RPMs, but on all 8 cylinders at high RPMs. I had no idea what was going on. To add to the problem, I live several hours away from the closest dealership.
I contacted the Ferrari club president of SC, who was very helpful. I was given a name…KARL TROY (European Road and Racing in North Charleston, SC). Thank goodness! It is hard to find the words to truly described Karl and his work ethic. It is just unbelievable! When my car was taken to him, he already was working on several Ferraris, Porsches, Lotuses (some of them from as far as Pennsylvania)…but, he found the time to work on my car (sometimes late at night)…and solved the cylinder problem (and several others I had discovered after receiving the car). Everyday he called me (long distance) to give me a rundown on what he had done.
Karl is extremely talented in working with cars, but also in driving them (just check his website, or ‘Google’ him, and you will see how many trophies he has earned as a race driver). I can only say that I am indebted to the club for putting me in touch with Karl, and to Karl for his excellent work. It’s been great to get to know him. I should also add that Karl is quite fair in his pricing. Just in case you are interested, or need work done by someone who really appreciates fine machinery, his number is (843) 747-1342.

Welcom to the site. Please fill out your profile. Also it would be nice to understand what was wrong and what was fixed. And maybe the price so the group can get an appreciation of various costs. Good luck with the car.

I know what most likely happened, it happened to us but on a w12 car, a misfire on a downshift accoured several times causing the left bank of the engine's ignitors to completly burn out.

Actually it was a bolt on the clutch/flywheel assembly which came undone (not well bolted to start with) and damaged the reference pins (giving false reference signal).
