Yes, it was slow....but handed out for comparison. I had to beef up the suspension on this one to handle the load and control the boost to keep from breaking the axles. All I know is, from a standing start the rear engine layout is as good as the Audi 4 wheel drive on start.....it's like a drag boat in the water....instant acceleration. This one is much faster than Cameron's 3.6 TT btw. and I have the boost set at 1 bar on street gas in which it makes 630 & 610. Bump up the boost and it's through the roof.....wish it was mine and I'd take you on anywhere, preferably at Road Atlanta or Road America for laptimes or head to head....it's been a VERY long time since we've been head to head.....Road Racing is a bit more demanding than cones as you now know too......but it is for sale now......he's scared of it....literally it's too fast for his comfort. ;-) d
That's not your father's Oldsmobile. That's a Lambo Diablo GT. We service that car, so I know it very well. It's not even supposed to be in the US. The first time I ordered an oil filter for it, Lambo said I was ordering the wrong part. I told them, no, it's the right part. They said that's the part for the GT race car. I said, yes I know. They said it was a "kit" car as none were sent over here and aren't even supposed to be on the road in Euro without some special documents....so they say. I said well it's in Austin and it's got the same engine that the Minardi F1 cars had a number of years ago with the V12 and all the hot sh---t electronics...it's got the funny hood, it's got more carbon fiber than NASA has in the space shuttle..... They still did not believe me and I was getting a bit pissy.........and said well if you don't believe me, check out my website as there are photos of it. I got a call back in less than 5 minutes with a VERY big apology and they asked me for some more photos as they had not seen one in such detail. The Oil filters were then on the way. It is a VERY cool Lambo....coolest I've been in....period. BTW, if you thought Ferrari parts were expensive, Lambo wants $1,100 a wheel (not a set, a single wheel) for brake pads for that car......obviously with our racing contacts, we can get the tit's up pads (Brembo/Ferodo/Pagid/PFC for half that for the entire car.
Let me stick a couple of hair dryers on your 360 and will kill em all....modern day 288GT0 with twice the power. It is possible ;-)
^ That's Rep. Ron Wilsons GT. Freind saw it a stones throw away from our capitol the other day, said it was really neat seeing the leather driving gloves resting on the seat. Kind of ironic how he has a Lambo, yet he is a Democrat helping out the working man.
Maybe his political ties explain how he got that "Tractor" into the states. I'll give him credit, even for a Lambo...it's pretty damn cool.
Naaaaa, we had that Novitech twin supercharged 360 here for a while. After the Germans were done, I got some seat time in it. Even with 605 hp, I wasn't impressed. It's a cool car, and sounded really good, but with $330,000 into the project, I'll take my spider as it comes from the factory. I did put the Novitec exhaust on my car, I liked it more than the Tubi. To me it sounds a little better, more F1 ish. Back to that SC, words can't even explain that 2 ton bullet. I've been in a lot of cars, from 50mph to 150... well, it's just damn fast.
Lol, yup that is one swingin' Bull, and I figured his "connections" got that car this side of the Atlantic. Hehe, even Lambo was confused on how it was here!
My 2 ton Lexus makes 630rwh on pump gas also. Cones? I haven't been to a auto-x in 14 years!! No lap times, head to head for me only. As you know, it's not all about power. I blow by those big hp turbo bugs in my little na Corvette with only 450rwh all the time at TWS... Let me know when you have a customer with something really fast we can go play.. SW
I hear you...didn't mean to strike a nerve, I haven't been cone sloshing since the last time I saw you behind a wheel some 14 years ago myself.....But Road racing on a track, well that's a different story.....so if you really want to race?????......I'm ready ANY time you are and look forward to a little competition.....it's always more fun to beat someone you know,...all you have to do is get a road race car and come play with me. That's where I speed, no tickets that way. BTW, I have the 1967 12 Hours of Sebring car for sale for $85k.....you can afford that ;-) or if you want a Chevy, since you seem to like them a lot, I have 1969 Lola T-70 with a brand new engine Chevy 410 with Hilborn Injection (off the engine dyno and going in the car) with 725 HP and 700 ft-lb of torque for sale for $275K.......have a few others too....no shortage of race cars....well, sorry no Ferrari Race cars for sale......competitive ones are stupid money. Although, could probably get you a WSC 333 SP for around $300k....that would be cool to run against the slew of 962s, Nissans, Jags, Intrepids, Spice Chevys, Lola Judds.....about 30 GTP cars run now in vintage regulary and are usually faster than the ALMS times.....no time to chill.....serious freak'n business...we are supporting a 962 in addition to all the others again this season. I'll be at Road America in 2 weeks driving a 73 RSR "normally aspirated, sorry" that I drive at about 10-12 road races per year in SVRA, HSR, and other select vintage races across the country. It's the same car I was co-champion and undefeated in Historic IMSA GT 2 years ago for the season. Lap times, there on the internet, but to get you thinking hard about retiring the "street racing" and come real racing.......... At Sebring 2:15 in RSR 2:23 in 355 Challenge, Road Atlanta 1:30 RSR, 1:38 355 Challenge, Moroso, 1:33 RSR, Daytona 1:57 RSR, 2:15 2.0 liter 911, Mid-Ohio 1:33, oh and for tracks around here....MSR 1:12 on treaded tires, 1:57 on treaded tires and in a 2.0 liter 911 with 200 HP If you can't make it to Road America, meet me at Mont Tremblant, or Sebring, or Road Atlanta, Watkins Glen.....more racers the better.....can't transport it, I've got an 18 wheeler Going to Goodwood Festival of Speed, but personally not racing there........maybe Laguna later too. SW, you know I'm bust'n your balls, it's fun ;-).................BUT I REALLY WISH some more TEXANS would get their tails out and do some racing with me..........it's so much fun.......... d
Lap times, there on the internet, but to get you thinking hard about retiring the "street racing" and come real racing. I really don't "street race", just have some fun once in a while.. As far as "real" racing, you should know I've been doing it for a long time. Started Vintage racing at 18@ Road America, St. Louis ect. Open wheel cars at Paul Ricard in France,Sears Point ect. Unfortunately, I don't do it for a living. I have spent the last two years driving Vipers for myself and another guy in the Viper Club races. Lap times are great, what counts is who is first at the end... SW
Dave, I only know the Texas tracks, but I think theres a typo somewhere in the MSR lap times . Well be there racing w/NASA May 21&22, why dont you come join us. I think Robs coming with his 355 Challenge. If we could get a few more of them out of their garages and on the track wed have a nice big field. If you dont like MSR, check NASAs schedule and come to TWS, Hallet or NPR this summer. See you later . Mark
Oops, sorry, you are right, but not a typo, just been since 2000 since I've been there and had it confused with another track. I guess that's what happens a few years after 40....start losing you mind??? So, I went and looked at my lap sheets from 99 and 2000 and times were 1:17, consistently 18/19 but a few 17s in succession when concentrating....on Comp TA BFG, World Challenge spec tires in a 410 HP 993 RSR, the other RSR, I could not bust 1:23 as it had ABS problems. The following year, I never got below 1:20 with the new GT3 Cup car with 390 HP motor, but the tires the next year sucked really bad....some TOYO street crap tire that was rock hard. MSR may be in our backyard, but and I don't like it at all.....every corner is off camber. If they fixed that and added on like they talked about after Rattlesnake (is that right) it would be great. There are only 2 turns in the entire USA tracks "top tracks" that are off camber. We stopped testing there because it does no good to setup a car there and go somewhere else. TWS, is much better for that. Go to my website and see my race schedule, http://www.moorespeed.com/news/schedule/index.html it's pretty full with great venues.....somewhere in there, I'm supposed to get married. d
Hey SW..........You know I'm just trying to light a fire under your arse to get you out there with me.....ok?? I totally agree that winning is better than laptimes. BTW, I'm not that good at qualifying....but the actual race my times are typically faster than my qualifying times because I have something to do....beat you, go search the HSR/SVRA results file for the past 3 or 4 years, I think you'll find my name on top of the leader board at every event I was entered except in the 355 Challenge car. It runs in IMSA GTO and just can't compete with the TT Nissan (Millen's old IMSA car), Olds Aurora (Irv Hoerr's old car), or any RSR.....it's just too heavy. Back to work....... d
I understand, I can't remember ever running at a track where you were driving at the same time I was? It would be interesting to see.. As you know, I don't keep up with any of the Porsche events because I don't care for them. Just bring one of your "race" 911's out to TWS and I will bring my street Vette and we'll go for it... SW
I don't go to them anymore either. Check out this car: http://www.mulsannescorner.com/allardj2xstory.html I've been contacted about running this car in SVRA next year. No dice on the 360 seat......tried all my sources...they all laughed. Seems like you could get Leather menders to re-upholster. We could rebuild the structure for a whole lot less than a new one.....I think. d
No Ferrari but it was still a cool car to see on the road. I just spotted a red Ford GT driving northbound on Mopac.
It wasn't on the road but I'm 90% sure I saw the F40 in Shady Hollow today. It was in his garage and with the angle I couldn't see it very well but, it looked like the F40 with the engine cover completely off. I could barely see a red body and what looked like 3 exhaust pipes coming straight down. I have seen it before in the same condition but from much closer. He does have other cars he works on so I could be wrong. For what ever reason I thought he didn't own it anymore but I guess he had it somewhere else (I should not believe rumors). It has not been at his house for over a year. I hope this means we will be seeing it back on the road soon and maybe at some of the local events.
Questions.... Does this guy have multiple Ferraris? Does this guy have a hot ass blond girl friend with a large tattoo on the smal of her back? Well, If it's who I think, that car has been somewhere making it into a LM or at least upgraded with LM stuff. That's what a little long haired birdie told me a while back. She was friends with the blond, met her once. She tried talking Ferrari, but wasnt too sure. Hey I give her credit, my girlfriend now just knows they are silver and loud when they start. I still can't figure out what she's calling motor gel. Wes _________________________________________________________________ "I check cheddar like a food inspector...." HOV
No, that was the only Ferrari I have ever seen at his house. I don't know about his girlfriend but he has a hot blonde daughter that drives a silver MB G500. His F40 used to have the stock wheels and then he put some 19" or 20" black wheels on it.
werd... that F40 used to make me have to catch my breath after going DAM!!!!!!! I hope it is back. I remember seeing it pop up here and there and it was indubadedly nice. Also, I saw a yellow 355 drop top on Slaughter heading towards Circle C. I was in my 05' stang and it looked like he looked over at me. I wanted to give a "thumbs up", but too busy gawking. cheers!
