...i'm putting together our ACBC fall event calendar next week, including collaborations with the alamo area council of car clubs, so i'll make a point to post anything relevant over here once i've had a chance to consolidate all my disparate references... ...anyone up to joining me in castroville tomorrow night?..not much exotic presence other than what we bring ourselves, but it's still fun...

...going though all the alamo area council of car clubs calendars, there are plenty of feature events the week before and the week after your visit, but nothing noteworthy scheduled for the week you're here - just the usual weekly cruise nights... Friday Night - Biff Buzby's (Interstate 35 and Topperwein Road, San Antonio - $5 Food Voucher Required) Saturday Night - Big's (Highway 151 and Potranco Road, San Antonio - Might Be Dissolved) Saturday Night - Big Texas Inn (2105 Sidney Baker Street, Kerrville) ...typically all these general cruise nights draw mostly american iron, and i'm not sure how well biff buzby's event is doing since they began charging admission, as it's a fairly recent development...harris hill road has a teen driving event friday afternoon, but they're open the rest of that week - oftentimes their management is happy to show visitors around the track on an ad-hoc basis...
Biff's is doing fine. The $5 admission turned out to be a good thing. It keeps the low-rider and ricer type crews away. On top of that, you get a five dollar coupon that you could put towards a delicious burger at Biffs or a couple of beers. ...ariel atom spotted on sonterra road wednesday night around 9.30, just after we finished our ACBC meeting at the lion and rose - anyone know the owner?.. ...it stopped off at kim's clinic wednesday afternoon and she begged the driver to adopt her, after first noting that if it had been a grantursimo instead, she'd have begged him to marry her... ...two doors make all the difference...
I was driving down Canyon Gulf, sloping down a big hill which is just up the road from Stone Oak Parkway. This is the stretch of road where as you make your way around the rise of hill to the left, you will be able to see downtown San Antonio in the far distance. It was nice and quiet as I was the only car on the road, until I caught my eye on a singly approaching UFO flying low in the oncoming lane. My silence was quickly interrupted by a monstrous roar bellowed out of a single exhaust manifold from the back of the bright yellow beast. The driver had downshifted and turned right into Champs Run. And what a sound it was! I proceeded down the road in pure awe of what I had just seen. Though it wasn't something too new, it sure isn't a thing of the ordinary. Shortly thereafter I crossed paths with a couple of nice M3's, a Mustang GT500 and even a sleek black Maserati Quattroporte as if they were of little more significance than the rest of the motorists on the road. Surely this is a result of the motoring demons trying to bring me over to the dark side. LOL So does anyone want to take a stab at what car I spotted?
...yellow-monstrous-older-dark side: diablo?.. ...there's a nicely-sonorous yellow pantera which occasionally prowls these parts, and i think the ariel spotted wednesday night was also yellow-and-black, but i'll have to confirm that - i didn't see it myself because it was following me at some distance; the other club members spotted it coming up from behind as i pulled away...
i know of someone who was looking at getting one. i haven't followed up with him to see if he decided to wait for the V8 version or not. I'll check up in the next couple of days.
You are on the right track, but think newer. The Diablo has dual exhaust manifolds rather than what appears to be one large one. By not too new, I meant that it wasn't the super-fast version that was recently released.
