    |I should probably put this in boats, but...
I would be really keen to hear from anyone with documentation on this 1950`s boat.
Looking for drawings, documentation, pictures, an engine (375) etc.
The Amati model is a good start, but there must be more out there.
    Cheers.

    aahh,
    resources, OK figured it out,
    I am learning.

By the way, I have seen that article previously, as it turns out via a search.
But any news on "Part 2" ?

I would really enjoy finding out more about the Arno XI and info seems a little hard to come by, everything seems related to the model, but very little regarding the actual boat, in particular the restoration.

I know this does not exactly fit within the board guidlines, but it is a Ferrari, ( or at least identified with) and in terms of interesting Ferrari`s this has to be right up there!

by the way, does anyone know with regards the engine, either a 375 MM or 250 V12, circa late 1950`s, are they available? or only attached to a vehicle.

    Thanks

Velostrada was put on hold so I don't think Part2 was ever published. Wayne Ausbrookes will know more.

I think this boat fits in perfectly with this board. Ferrari powered and just happens to look stunning IMO. It may be that the guys in the vintage section can help you out more. Try posting a thread there.

BTW do you have a personal connection to this boat? PM me if you would prefer.

    Cheers

I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but this site sells a metal engine and detail parts for the 1/8 model:
    http://www.scaleautoworks.com/Arnotranskit.htm

They also list a couple of references that should not be too hard to find. If you contact the guy who runs Scale Auto Works, he may more help. I've corresponded with him on model issues. He's a good guy.

    Hi:
thanks for the response regards the Arno.
I am still keen to find out more about the boat.
My interest is in the engine as much as the boat,
Perhaps somone knows a source to try an example of this engine?
were they produced for road cars as well? or was it strictly a race engine?

    any more information available?
    Cheers

There's a running 195 Inter engine available in The Netherlands. Finding a 375 engine is going to be hard so an exact replica is almost impossible.

It's in the book Classic Motorboats, i have a copy I'll post the ISBN number......it was indeed a V12 F1 engine used in Italy for construction.

I have heard a local urban legend someone here built a Ferrari powered craft that sank in the Ship Channel on an early shake down test...it wasn't the Arno however.....

I think the one we see now is also a recreation of the original. I'll refresh my memory and check back in.......

Welcome seawings....I run a Mercury 150HP ("Dialed in at Lake X") and have a lot of books on racing boats, so I may have other references to your question as well.......

The wooden hydros are not known for longetivity...LOL! but there are many in a Museum in......Seattle??????

The movie "Miss Madison" saw little distribution, but the lead is the same actor that did "Passion of Christ"......

The museum in Seattle is the hydroplane and raceboat museum.
    www.thunderboats.org

I grew up watching the hydro`s at seafair each year, back then they were not "vintage" they were just Merlin, Allison and Griffon powered boats, and they were apsolutely spectacular. I never forgot them, but once the jets came in, I lost interest.

Now those boats still run, but demo and display only. There have been a few recreated boats, such as Miss Thriftway, which is a complete replica / reproduction, powered by an Allison V1710. And a number of restorations of the vintage hydros, such as Miss Bardhal, Miss Century 21, Pay n pak, Budweiser.

You mention Madison, great movie, well at least the Hydro action and scenes are fantastic. They used boats from the Hydroplane and raceboat museum in Seattle, I think Miss madison was Miss Burien repainted.

Now regards the Arno, I am just fascinated with this boat, it has beautiful lines, and was very very potent.
But I am really uninformed on the engine.
Some questions I have. I have seen the same basic engine in various Ferrari's from 4.5 million Euro 375's to 50,000 usd cars from the mid 60's. So are there many varients of this engine? and from looking at pictures can anyone tell the exact variant in the Arno?
If the engine can be sourced at a non astronomical figure, the balance of the boat is pretty straightforward.

I have yet to confirm if the surviving Arno in Italy is original, reproduced, or a data plate restoration.
I am trying to actually find a copy of Ferrari World magazine [defunct/out-of-print] issue #16, Jan-Feb 1992 as this supposedly has a complete article on the surviving Arno. If anyone has a copy perhaps they could scan the article and email it as a PDF doc or similar?
Thanks for your interest, there seems to be very little written on this fantastic boat.

I will put you in touch with the owner next week; I'm away from my computer this weekend. He and the boat are in France. It is real and original. Great history. It's also for sale; offers start north of $1mm.

Coincedentally I recently met someone here in The Netherlands who restores classic speedboats and he want's to build a replica of this Ferrari boat as well. I've seen his shop and he's fully capable and equipped to do so but the engine will be a problem (unless he would opt to not stick to originality too much and use another Ferrari V12).

He gave me a lot of scans and I will send them to you when I'm at home.

Also are you aware that there's another Ferrari engined classic speedboat? I have a scan of an article about that boat too.

A few years back I visited Sport Auto Modena and they had the 375 boat engine on a test bed. I arrived in time to see and hear it fired up. What a sound!

Thanks so much for the responses,
great to see there is interest in this boat, and it is still actively displayed.

Tritone, I would like to hear more about the owner, the boats current conditions and a potential sale??
    where? when?

BigoDino, thanks for the offer, I would really like to see the info, and hear more about a planned replica.

    Ursoenzo
great picture, have you got any more from that display?

    Aardy.
    Thanks very much!
