Well a buddy of mine with a new M3 threw down the gauntlet the other day, so last night we headed up to New England Dragway to see how the 355 and the M3 matched up.

Keep in mind this was the 1st time I had ever run a car down a drag strip (although I'm ashamed to admit I have done my fair share of street racing)

    1st run me: 13.80 the M3 13.84
2nd run me: 13.63 the M3 17.4 this is when his 6K mile M3 blew up 3rd gear
3rd run me: 13.74 the M3 16.7 this is where the M3 realized he could no longer get it in 3rd gear...

The car was a huge hit, I basically walked it off the line and quick shifted (no powershifting) and she didn't miss a beat.

Pleanty of interesting cars there as well. You had your american hot rods, a viper and tons of imports. Beware with a little tuning cars like the new Neon SRT-4 were running 12 second qtr miles. Although one of the guys came over to check out the 355 and said "I may be faster but you still get to drive home in a Ferrari" :)

    Michael,

If you fancy going again, I'd be keen to give the CS a go. Can't wait to try that LC button!

RU going to the Dyno day on Sat?

One other question - was it a stick or SMG M3?

Dan, You know it's funny I thought of you and your CS but I have no way of getting ahold of you other than email and here. PM me you cell and I'll ring you up the next time we head up.

The M3 was the 6 speed.

We gutted the 2nd floor of my house and I have to paint the master bedroom before I can go play on Sat but I'm starting at the crack of dawn so I can fit everything in and I should make it.

I wouldn't want to embarass myself running my ancient 308 at the strip, but I would love to go and watch you guys do it in fast cars!

See you at the Dyno on Sat!

Glad to see you went up to the strip in the f car and that you basically stuck even with the M3. How did he blow 3rd gear (SMG or manual)?

For anyone interested in an drag day, Nabbs and myself were thinking of heading up there later on in May. We have a couple M5s, Z06s, etc. It would be great to try and get a group of European cars up there so I do not get picked on all by myself;). Sometimes to consider if anyone is interested.

May 24th is NHIS for me, but now that my atrocious courses are drawing to an end...I plan on taking the Z up to NED for some TnT action. Don't forget Viper vs. Vette days in Oct :)

TC -- thanks for the invite you bastage!

I think it would be best if we could manage to get there on a Wednesday night. I have been on a couple of Fridays and it becomes very busy (to the point where it takes an hour to get a run in). I would think Wednesday would be a bit less crowded so we could all get a decent number of runs in.

    Capt,

I have a new Cadillac that will give you or Dan‘s 360 CS a run for your money. :)

GM’s Bob Lutz snuck a Corvette LS6 engine in this beast with a Tremec T-56 6-speed manual. I can’t wait to get it up to NED this season. Of course, if this rig can't do the trick, I’ll have to roll out the Viper for a little revenge. :)

Good luck with the new baby!

    Nabbs,

Z06 hey, looks like you get the SRT-10 treatment right away. :)

My best last year was a 12.16. I need to get a factory reflash of the computer that fixes a low RPM hesitation. Any mods, and what's your best?

I have 2 friends in the Corvette club with Z06's and we're planning a visit to NED the end of May. I'll keep you posted if your interested.

Turns out that not only is there something wrong with the M3s transmission but his clutch is smoked to boot.

Nice! I need to get to Epping sometime soon! I'm pretty tight with the Z guys, I might know 'em. My car just put down 385/375 corrected and 403/391 uncorrected after doing headers, intake and tuning. I'm adding a cam and heads shortly. The stock tires are already pretty worthless at this point since they spin till 3rd.

I would most def. love to line up against you! Are you going to the Viper/Vette shootout?

And more importantly, how is the Caddy? I've been very tempted to pick that up as a daily! In fact, I'd love to check out either of your cars...lol!

    Nabbs,

385hp to the rear wheels is outstanding. My friends with the Z's are fairly stock with 354 & 357 rwhp. Their bests are 12.2 & 12.3 respectively. With 30 more hp your car could run in the 11's. Do you have any time slips yet, pre or post mods?

The Caddy is unbelievable! How can you not like a daily driver with 400hp, a 6-speed, and 3.73 rear gears. Now if GM could only shed about 800 pounds. :)

I'll let you know on the track date; however, you'll have to get in line behind all the other Z's that want a piece of me. :)
