Many thanks to Daniel Pass, Tim Lyons and many others that mad this a great day. Why is it that all the cool stuff is 3-5 hours away? Ken Wright
Thanks Bob! Looks like you guys had a blast and decent weather! Maybe a bit cold, but sunny at least!
http://www.fcafloridaregion.com/Graphics/Sebring2006flier.pdf Great Pitures! Now let's hear the stories. Any interest in Sebring this coming week?
I was there and had a ball. I've never had that much track time, with an uncluttered track, available to me before. Although I was in a Corvette, they still allowed me in! Kudos to all of those who were responsible for putting the event together. Thanks, guys!
... a gentleman doesn't kiss and tell. Even if we kiss the guardrail, tirewall, or kerbs. Enough said.
I've got a story for you: There was a gentleman there named Tim Lyons that was crazy enough to get in a car made by a shade tree mechanic that has 600 Hp and go bouncing off curbs. "Your not going fast enough unless your on the kerbing," right? In the afternoon session I got to follow him around while he drove his M3, he didn't touch a kerb, trail braked perfectly into a corner and pivoted around a pair of corners so smoothly it was like art. He did this all the way around the track. After that I figured that I was making the biggest rookie mistake of all, not going slow enough when needed and fast enough when possible. Thanks for the photo links. Any movie links? Not trying to insult anyone but all of our cars just look like they are parked on the track. Ken
Here's a clip with some 360 & 355 video: 360 & 355 Here I get toasted by the yellow Ruf Porsche: Some like it Ruf
Now where's all the videos of our Mazda's? Great time at the track with a great group of people. The weather could not have been nicer. Everything was very well organized and provided much needed tracktime for our racecars!
He had one of the Mazdas. It was the one when he was trying to catch the Ruf P-car. I tried to be as good a road block as I could so BPKM could catch him, but to no avial. That was me in #26 that they both pass starting down the front straight. I must have been trying to get it in the next gear which is why they caught me at all.
Ken, I have some video that my dad took of the beast. I am in the process of editing. I'll put something together for you. Awesome car! -J.
Did VIR permit spiders to run - without roll bars installed? I could not run my Porsche twin turbo cab, because it only had pop up bars. Robert in Potomac
Greatly appreciate the video. Your car is stunning, exactly what I would have bought had it been available. Look forward to seeing you guys again next month. Ken
Yea, I agree with you, Bob. Like you, I was surprised they let that Porsche in. Seriously, it was a lot of fun having the 'Vette on track with such a great bunch of cars and enthusiastic drivers. And Wow! That Ruf P-car was well driven and insanely fast.
Really wish I coulda been there... probably would have just slowed everybody down though. Atleast dad finally got to drive his car on the track for once... Looks like there was a really good turn out, big variety of cars too. It looks like that is the same RUF that was at the Ferrari event last year, am I right? Anyone know who's ultima that was? Aren't those things ridiculously fast? Maybe one day I will have made enough money to own one of my own Ferraris... in the meantime... everyone needs to work on convincing dad to get a 599...
I know these aren't Ferrari's in this picture, but they were at the Ferrari trackday at VIR and they belong to a Ferrari owner, so they possibly qualify for posting here. They belong to the Robernator Whitener(Eclipse185):
Nick/Jody - Ravelle gave me 2 CD's worth of pictures, all at 5 megapixels. I'll try to post some this evening. There actually is a really good picture of Nick, looking so "F1 chic". Nick, you mind if I post your ugly mug on Fchat? Maybe some groupies will be charmed by your rugged looks.
