I tried to share my 512S sn 1004 (which I have owned and raced as 1004 for 30+ years at the national meet in Wisconsin this Sept, but was told without proper investigation: that sn 1004 certified was in England. My chassis 1004 had its sn changed to 1016 by Herbert Mueller for carnet reasons and I returned it to its original 1004, and via Franco Gozzi it was acknowledged. He also acknowledged that 1004 in England certified is really 1012.

Classic professes that sn 1012 never left the factory, and maybe Franco Gozzi really did not know what he was doing.
If in fact 1012 never left the factory, then it must still be there. They now have to fabricate a clone to substantiate and support their contrived story. Saying Franco Gozzi didn't know what he was doing is almost like saying Enzo Ferrari didn't know what he was doing.

Years ago many of my fellow Ferrari Club of America members in the 50s 60s and 70s were fully aware that it was common knowledge that the Ferrari factory had very poor records. Amazingly Classiche has generated such a trove of records which never originally existed. For example: Certified 1012/1004 being sold to Garage Francorchamps after the factory restamped 1004 to 1012 ( MAKES NO SENSE) Then an Italian in Torino purchased it and restamped it to 1012, a chassis which was destroyed and written off. MAKES NO SENSEE). Then finally 1012 was restamped to 1004 to make it eligible for certification.

All of these restampings other than to give credence and confusion to contrive a history for 1012/1004 make no sense.
The real 1004--2 restamping one for carne the other for history originality
    The phony 1012/1004-- 3 restamping
    1) to 1024 by the factory and sold (MAKES NO SENSE)
    2) to 1012 by an Italian of Torino (MAKES NO SENSE)
    3) to 1004 by classic to collect a fee, not for history (MAKES NO SENSE)

Unfortunately the Ferrari community is the loser - as time goes on the history of each of these famed and revered cars becomes foggier. The further we get away from the truth, the further we destroy the very history that made Ferrari the legend marque it is.

I've owned and raced a variety of Vintage Ferraris for 40+ years besides my 512S Chassis 1004. I am not an amateur, nor am I new to the intricacies, the mystique, and the mythical stories fabricated by so called "Ferraristi." In the end - the almighty dollar has taken control, instead of the truth. Those who are responsible for fabricating these lies are guilty of high treason when it comes to historical accuracy. Any true Ferrari historian would agree.

I think you are one of many that have better details than others, sometimes including Ferrari. It would be awesome to see pictures and info, as you almost certainly know more about it than Ferrari.

As the OP takes his swipes at Classiche he may wish to remember who some of the early outside consultants were. I would not want to be one that cast any aspersion upon the integrity of Jess Pourret or Keith Blumel. Cannot say if either of them was a party to this assertion whenever it was that the OP was in touch with Classiche on his topic.
