I was surfing Ebay and found a 1972 246GT Dino and noticed that in addition to the Dino badges there is a Ferrari logo and a "prancing horse" emblem. It bugs me, maybe more than it should. It's not that I don't like the 246, I think it's probably one of the sexiest cars ever produced. I even like the Dino 308gt4 and would be proud to have one (although I would prefer it to have been made as a Ferrari). When I see one I roll my eyes. Am I the only one?

I don't know how to post the link.

I have my flame proof shield ready to deploy so have at it.

Ferrari badges were a common aftermarket ad-on and it seeems like the majority of Dinos had them.

The 308 series was originally going to be called Dinos, but the US dealers convinced the factory to badge them as Ferrari.

I dont have a big problem with the rebadgeing, but I do prefer it not be there

It's just not right. A Dino is a Dino. If somebody doesn't know what it is, then too bad.

There are Dino's that, unlike many Ferrari's got their SF shields the hard way.

I think it's the Ferrari equivalent of a "Powered by Honda" windshield decal on a Honda.

I agree. Just carry a bullhorn and every time you stop say "I HAVE A FERRARI! THIS IS A FERRARI I'M IN OVER HERE!!" and save the cash from the shields.

Simple question: Do you think 99.99% of the public know that the shields signify Ferrari? Doubtful.

Those who buy them like hotcakes and put them on their Honda's certainly do.

Totally, totally agree. A Dino is something to be celebrated, not re-cast. I refused to put them on mine. And I'm also not crazy about shield stickers on 308's either....

First off, are you the bastard love child of Dave and Carbon?

Second, it gets worse. Just to confuse and confound...

Here is a Fiat Dino with a Ferrari badge.

We all put them on for the most part on our Dino's in the old days as the Dino was not truely accepted as a Ferrari at that time. Yes it is accepted today as one of the most beautiful Ferrari s ever produced, but neverthless you are living now not then. Just as then, NO One had shields!

Don't forget Rosso Corsa paint. Race Red is clearly the original domain of the F1 team. A Red street Ferrari, what a sham, "hey look at me, a red Ferrari!" Clearly not enough brown Ferraris without shields in this world.
