    Hi,

I am looking for some help in getting some specification information for the braking system of the Ferrari Boxer (512BB, BBi).
I need the following info if anyone has it:
Caliper piston sizes and numbers front and rear
Rotor diameter and thickness front and rear
    Master cylinder bore and stroke
    Vacuum assist boost multiplication factor
Proportioning valve (if applicable) switch pressure and reduction value.

I am helping to develop a racing system for the Boxer and am having a hard time finding some specifications.

    Thanks

I'll give you a tip...the entire Boxer brake system needs to be trashed if you want to race it, so your research is for info that you really won't be needing other than for comparison!

ok, maybe the M/Cyl and booster can be re-used!

Wheel size is the determining factor for race brakes on a BB, and the fact the spline mount means special wheels need to be built up.

There are full kits available I'm sure, but if it's just a road/track car, it's adequate to fit big calipers and floating grooved discs to the front only.....

    Hi..........

According to the factory workshop manual for the 365 Boxer, the brake rotor dimensions are: front diameter @ 288 millimeters [mm] and rear diameter @ 297 mm; front thickness @ 32 mm [minimum @ 30 mm] and rear thickness @ 22 mm [minimum @ 20 mm] and the caliper bore diameters are: front @ 40 mm and rear @ 34 mm.....with no comment about differences in the 512 series of vehicles.

No information on other parameters of brake system, other than use of a Bonaldi booster, in the manual.

Perhaps you should talk to Richard Fritz of Amerispec about the BB/LM brake systems; contact him @ (203) 744-0844 in Connecticut.

    Good luck !!

    Thanks Frank,

    The information is very valuable.
The project is for a friend who is building a track day car from a semi-wrecked 83 Boxer

ferrarfixer, the information is for baseline balance and hydraulic engineering purposes. Wheel clearance issues are known and I have cross sectional data for the race wheel currently. All of the system other than the hard lines will be replaced and re-engineered. As a note, I worked for Brembo North America as a development engineer for many years and have helped develop racing and OE brake systems for Ferrari as well as most manufacturers.
Brembo does not currently have any update-or brake kits for the Boxer. There is a set for the early Testarossa, but it is just a bit off dimensionally.
    Thanks for your input.

    Eric
