Too bad they can't bring back their championship car from last year! Probably wouldn't pass Tech spec's, but it's probably as fast if not faster than this year's model..using last year's tires, etc.
Keep waiting, patiently, for Ferrari to make it interesting again....personally speaking..... Looks like they're in a drout!

This could have been Ferrari's 3rd car in INDY, and they would have scored points too! The tires would have held up as well!

Remember that Ferrari ran the F2004 in the first two or three races of 2005. The results were pretty poor as well.

Yes, correct, but I think they were running the tires designed for the 2005 version, which are completely different than 2004.
Much more was expected when the new car and new tires came together, but as it's turned out.....a rough start, to say the least. Maybe they can win one or more races, but I doubt it.....Pray for RAIN, at some of the upcoming venues! Maybe that will get them to the top rung of the podium...

Plain and simple Ferrari did not get the equation figured out for this season. IMHO the team screwed up by modifying the F2004 thye should have got the F2005 on the test track at a much early date like all of the other teams did.

Ferrari was asleep at the wheel on this one, and i still feel that they have yet to fully wake up to the situation of the matter.

    Agree!

There is a factor that McLaren and Renault have found that Ferrari have yet too ... forget this year and go and find it (by revising the F2005 as a test mule maybe) and find a few others, but it could take years and maybe fresh views.

Just take a look at McLaren in 2003 the MP18/4 never raced they used it as a test mule for the MP19/4 in 2004 it was a quick car but it had the reliability of a hand grenade with the pin pulled.

The MP20/4 is lightning quick with pretty decent reliability the Mercedes Benz engine being its weakest link at this time.

Proof that a team can screw the pooch and still come back if they work hard enough at it. Ferrari wake up and smell the exhaust fumes.

Instead of wanting 2004 to come back, I am eagerly awaiting 2006. 2005 has actually been good for the sport of F1. Sometimes I wonder if Ferrari made a "deal" to sandbag this year to make sure the fan base of F1 stays interested. Who really knows the politics of the sport, doubt if any of us of Fchat.

Enjoy the season, I think Ross, Jean, Michael and company will have a response in 2006.

I have to hope you are wrong about the sandbagging, but I agree that in all it may not be a bad year for the sport. I hope the F2006 is the true repalcement for the F2004. We'll kick . . .

The F2004 in the second half of 2004 was quicker than any of the Formula 1 cars will be in 2005.

The reason for this is that it had more downforce, a more powerful engine and more effective tyres, as allowed by the rules at the time.

Just look at the lap time comparisons from the past few races.

    Silverstone Pole Fastest Lap

    2004 1:18.233 1:18.739

    2005 1:19.905 (+1.672) 1:20.502 (+1.763)

    France

    2004 1:13.698 1:15.377

    2005 1:14.412 (+0.714) 1:16.423 (+1.046)

    Canada

    2004 1:12.275 1:13.622

    2005 1:15.217 (+2.942) 1:14.384 (+0.762)

I don't think Ferrari fell asleep when it came to designing the F2005. If you remember, Ferrari said they stop development on the F2004 in the mid season so they can focus their efforts on 2005. I think the problem is the tyres. Not the car. Sure they design the car with what tire manufacturer they are using, but with the new rules and most of the teams moving to Michelen, this is what has hurt Ferrari. But you can also blame Bridgestone for giving all their support to Ferrari, instead of BAR, Sauber and others who were using bridgestone before they switched to Michelen. Now since you have five top teams that use Michelen, they get more data compared to Bridgestone.
