    It actually depends on when it was manufactured, not when you bought it or how much it has been used. Most car seats last between five to nine years after they were manufactured. The plastics and foams used in the seat degrade over time and are not able to absorb impacts and can even crack or crumble in an impact.

    Oh brother. no matter how old it is, that thing sure looks a lot safer than the lap belt and the NYC phone book i sat upon... Look at me, I'm still alive.
