    Manley is no longer in the frame for the CEO job at Ferrari. The company will be interviewing a host of people from within and without the industry.

    Mike Manley, whom many considered one of the favorites to take over from Louis Camilleri at the helm of Ferrari, has fallen off the list of future Maranello 'capos'.
    Manley, current CEO of FCA, will take care of the interests of Stellantis - the conglomerate that will emerge next January with the merger of PSA and FCA, that is, the Peugeot and Fiat-Chrysler groups - in America, from the United States and Canada to Brazil and Argentina.

    Manley, although British, knows the US market well. The spectacular development of Jeep - not only in North America but in the global market - and that of RAM, turned into an independent brand, are his works.

    "We are very close to having Stellantis operational. Mike Manley will continue to play a fundamental role in the organization. Mike has done an extraordinary job at FCA, he is a promoter who has played a key role in this merger and his understanding with Carlos Tavares is absolute, both have common horizons, "said John Elkann in a letter to all FCA employees.

    In it, Elkann affirms that "Mike Manley will assume, after the merger of FCA and PSA, the role of 'Head of Americas'", a capital position given the position of the Stellantis brands in these markets.

    Ferrari had an unprecedentedly bad season in 2020. For a similar performance from the Scuderia, we need to go back 40 years. Bernie Ecclestone thinks he knows exactly why and is not afraid to tell the Italians the truth.

    "No offense, but I have always believe that the problem is the Italians," said the old F1 boss to La Stampa. "They all want to lead and each has their own ideas. I don't want to say that they can't, but they also have to involve the Germans, French and English. People who think differently."

    Ecclestone gave this advice more than 25 years ago and that was the format for the most successful period the team has ever had. "What happened to Jean Todt is a good example of that. The Italians didn't want him, but I persuaded them to take him and then things turned around."

    In his view, Binotto is certainly not the right man to lead this project. "I doubt if he ever really wanted to be team boss. He is an engineer and has always dealt with technical matters. They need a good manager in Maranello who puts the right people in the right place. Three years ago I thought Flavio [Briatore] was the ideal man for that, but he's too busy with his companies now."

    More than a matter of nationality, the team needs someone who legitimately imposes his authority. A conductor.

    Any similar comments about any other nationality/ethnicity would be deemed prejudiced.

    We all know Bernie’s on the verge of senility but how exactly would he explain the lack of success at McLaren and Williams: not enough Austrians?

    Also, who ever said that Ferrari want only Italians in the team? Maybe the fact that they can’t attract and retain foreign talent at their basically rural setting at Maranello leaves them with no choice, just like Sauber have trouble attracting talent to their Swiss location for example.

    In any case, Ferrari’s successes and reputation was built with Italian talent and I haven’t seen many people posting on BrabhamChat.com.

    Ferrari F1 is'nt run by just solely Italians. Ferrari F1 has a mix of nationalities.....of course they're not the best that money can buy and the best won't move to Italy.

    That's definitely a possibility, socioeconomic factors definitely play a role.

    We've had some good engineers, unfortunately they've moved on to "greener pastures" at other F1 teams and have stayed.

    Italian newspaper reporting that successor of Louis Camilleri might be Marco Bizzarri, of Rubiera, President and CEO of Gucci since 2015, board member of the Kering Executive Committee, and former President and CEO of Stella McCartney and Bottega Veneta.
