A few of us made the trip down to Infineon Raceway for the Ferrari Challenge this past weekend. Though the weather was a bit wet on Saturday, the weekend was incredible. The sound of the FXX cars on the track is amazing! Here are a few pics to get things started. I also have some HD video from the weekend that will eventually be edited into something worth sharing.

We also caught up with a few of the N. Cal club members on Sunday. Most of you will recognize a particular CS…

Thanks to Steve, Art, Sonny and Kelly!

If you have any footage of the Challenge races, I'd love to see it! I wasn't a front runner, but it was my first race and I was smiling the whole time. I was able to break into the tpo 10 which was fun. I was the #43 Balck Clear Capital car. Unfortunatly, my in-car camera died on Friday. My quick write up is here...

It sounds like the local North West guy had a little too much fun on track. :)

    Thanks!

I have video from turns 2 and 6 that should include you. I filmed the whole grid through these two corners. It will take me awhile to edit the video down into something useful and then convert it from HD to SD, so that I can burn it to a DVD. However, you will be welcome to a copy of end product.

In the meantime, here are a couple of photos of your car in the garage area. Just let me know if you want the fullsize images.

That would be great! I'd love to see some vid and the high res pics. You even got a shot of me in my extremely subtle orange Ferrari jacket. :) Puma generously gave us a lot of orange clothes and luggage.

    Thanks a ton!

Race results are posted on www.ferrarichallenge.com, and should be posted within the week. Rumor has it Scott Tucker took first...he's in the car with FC500 stickered to the side, car number 55.

There should be a write up on there shortly, and pics from this past weekend too.

Wow it looks like it was awesome. Would it be possible for me to get one of the DVDs of the events, at the next Jantzen Beach meet once you get them? Always love to see the techniques people use when taping cars. Also, out of curiousity, what HD camcorder do you use and how do you like it? Have a good week.

    Andrew,

I used a Sony HDR-HC7 (HDV 1080i) camera. So far, I'm very happy with the camera. It will make a great in-car camera for track days. This was the first time to shoot HD, so I've still got to upgrade my video software before I can edit the raw footage and burn it to a DVD. I’ll probably go with Sony’s Vegas 7 package. The codecs in my current software won’t support HD images. You’re welcome to a copy once it’s done. It will be SD though in lieu of HD. No reasonable cost HDV or BlueRay HD DVD burners out there yet.
