Last Saturday I drove my Cali up to Lime Rock, CT for the annual Ferrari Challenge races. It's a small track and a very relaxed setting in the Litchfield Hills. In addition to watching the 458s go at it, there's a Ferrari corral right in the middle of the track where owners park their cars for the spectators to walk around and admire. There were many varieties, including some great classics (see attached), including a couple of F12s. What was interesting was that my Cali (Silverstone/Cuoio) drew at least as much attention as many of the more exotic models. Maybe it was because I had the roof down. People just seem to really be attracted to the Cali.

Yes, I think you're right about the roof-down attraction. The Cali has the traditional full convertible roof down alter ego capability and I've always felt such cars exude carefree luxury. Whereas coupes and sedans are much more business-like. Even targas are not as appealing because they are more sport-biased whereas a full convertible with a backseat is more leisurely, fun-biased.

I think it actually does not matter how useable the backseat is. A convertible only has to feature some sort of backseat to make it more appealing to the general public.
