Steve--I hope you set the REV limiter at 7k on this motor--looks like SERIOUS leaning out at above 7k

I use 92 octane pump gas from my local Union 76 dealer.

The leaning out above 7K is kind of an anomaly. Every once in a while I will see this. It has something to do with when I let off the gas and push the stop recording button.

As a side note, this motor is an all aluminum 542" Big Block Chevy. It made 838 horsepower on an engine dyno prior to installing it in the car. I am in the process of replacing that motor with a new 632" all aluminum one. Preliminary tests on the engine dyno have resulted in 1062 hp and 890 ft.lbs. of torque - naturally aspirated. I do plan on running nitrous with this one as well. My goal is around 1400 hp to the rear wheels! As you can tell I like aluminum motors that make a lot of power.

Holy smokes! I almost thought that your wideband filter was dirty :D (Dirty filter makes the A/F read higher....I found that out the hard way.)

What type of EGT do you see at that A/F ratio on 92 octane?

I have EGT's on every cylinder and monitor them after every run. I use the Racepak data acquisition system.

As an example, these are the numbers from that run at 7000 rpm:

    1 - 1318
    3 - 1310
    5 - 1279
    7 - 1337

    2 - 1301
    4 - 1280
    6 - 1216
    8 - 1370

Wow.....much lower than I would have thought with that type of power on that fuel!

On pump gas, I see 1750+ out of my 2.2L and I am making nowhere near 700 whp (more like 425 whp).

Maybe you need to tune my car :D

What is even better are the numbers from the 1192 rwhp run:

    1 - 1383
    3 - 1410
    5 - 1371
    7 - 1408

    2 - 1372
    4 - 1453
    6 - 1427
    8 - 1479

sorry Mitch - besides that I want to see the dyno setup that allows 100 runs!!! I also think that dynos are not that accurate

a good summary to read is “Listening to the Voice of the Customer: Inertia Dyno Horsepower Versus Oem-Rated Net Horsepower” by Robert A. Smithson and Jeremy John Carter – it can be downloaded on www.sae.org (unfortunately for $12)

they analyze all the variables and problems with dyno measurements and how they relate to car manufacturer HP ratings
