I noticed in the pictures a coating had been applied to the inside surfaces of the engine. In the past, I believe that this would have been Zinc Chromate on a 12 cylinder engine. It caught my attention after reviewing pictures of my 76 engine rebuild that appears to have the same red coating. Is this a part of the Classiche engine rebuild or was this applied originally at the factory when new?

This looks like a common racer internal engine paint called Glyptal (see Eastman Products here)
Apologies for not knowing if it's OEM factory for the 250 (FWIW: I've never seen this on 308 or Boxer engine internals)
