can someone forward me the letter? My car is over 20 years old. I could not find a link on the owners site matt45563 at gmail dot com
You're very welcome. Also, if you go the owners site, you can find closely related information (not exactly the same text). On the owners site, first click on "Classiche" (upper left), then "Certify the originality ..." (first link on the list), and finally "Car Certification" (right side of the page in the middle). (You have to be very patient ... at least on my connection, the site is painfully slow. And I'm working with cable modem.)
Having stripped my Dino down and witnessing first hand how the car was thrown together from new, there is no way i would let the factory near it again! P.S. I have just been on the owners site and requested my free heritage certificate (pdf download). Graham.
This is a significant point. Considering the large number of Ferraris in North America, they would be wise to offer a duplicate program on this side of the Atlantic, with the same quality of work.
I got the letter last week....very slick. I'll keep it with all my literature/memorabilia. However, I'm screwed! My car has been reprayed red from its original silver. The interior has been converted to black from burgundy, the previous ouwner installed a Euro chin spoiler, and all of the anti-pollution gear has been gutted. So I guess I won't be able to join the horsey set. As Clark Gable once said...quite frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.
Six month ago I requested the free heritage certificate for my Lusso, but I've received nothing since then.
Took five months for my GTE and three days for my 308. Go figure! Did you enquire with Customer Service? I had to do that with the GTE and it came the next week. T308
I got this letter. I could care less. I have the original build sheets and every maintenance receipt for the car going back to 1973. The cars history, originality and "correctness" are plainly obvious who anyone who wants to flip through all the documentation. Why do I need to pay Ferrari some $$$ to get some funky official letter? Terry
If you really want to see what its like to beat your head against a rock to get a set of documents out of Ferrari go for one of these. I have done a couple and believe me its no easy task! Good luck to those who try and complete the whole process. (Don't ask I am not allowed to disclose which car these are for.) Terry: I was wondering if somebody else shared this perspective. I have the original, six-page build sheet and all the numbers on the car match those on the sheet. I have the name and service records of the first owner, the names of both of the other owners, the bill of lading used to ship it to the States, the second and third sales record, and my own service records for 30 years. I even have the shipping tag that must have been tied to the door handle when it was shipped over here from Bremerhaven to Seattle. So I am not too keen on giving the factory a lot of private information. Ed
Right on, Bro. At the end of the day, all that matters is each individual car. All the rest is BS. Dale
