I meant to say if you have best of show trophies from Pebble Beach etc. club trophies sometimes become less important.
ORP is a baby compared to Enzo era cars, so not quite famous and storied (yet). Hopefully everyone had a good time there. It's a fun track. No long, relaxing, high speed straights
I am sure they did but no one enjoyed getting there. You can walk to Road America from The host hotel. ORP was 2 1/2 -3 hours, traffic depending from the host hotel.
Serial number = 10! That's easy to remember. [emoji2] What a beautiful car. Great place to hold it. Lots of fun roads near Bend. Thank you for sharing...T
Actually Marcel, that was caught and corrected in all the paperwork but the placard had already been printed.
This was my first AE and I had a great time. I drove down from the Seattle area in my GTC4Lusso T. I met lots of great folks and made a bunch of new friends. Hanging out with Derek Bell was pretty cool, and it was great to catch up with Jon Shirley (I hadn't seen him since before the pandemic). Jon rode with Derek in the 488 Pista on our drive out to Painted Hills, and that was a pretty fun cruise. I think the location and the timing with Monterey affected attendance. Here in the Puget Sound area, the split between FCA and FOC had an impact as well, I think. The wildfire smoke put a damper on things a bit, as did the traffic in Bend, the 6-hour roundtrip drive to/from ORP, and the 3+ hour drive to the airport in Portland. But all in all, it was a great event and a lot of fun. Next year, the AE is close to Chicago and easier for midwest and east coast folks to attend and bring their cars. At the gala, they showed a promo video for the 2024 AE and it got everyone very excited. It was a super well-done video and I'm definitely looking forward to next year.
Weren't there some riots last year in or around Portland/OR? That may have had some influence too. Marcel Massini
The original plan was for Portland with Portland International Raceway for the track. Covid was the first cancellation then the riots for the relocation.
Watch for the new thread on the 2024 Annual Experience at Elkhart Lake to be started soon. September 8-11, 2024 Host Hotel: The Osthoff Resort Track: Road America - one of the greatest North American road courses. Still in its original track layout going back to 1955.
I hope you post a link to the promo video that was shown at the event. From what I've read, I want to see it!
There are 52 weeks a year. Out of the few of those where the weather is good in Wisconsin and the hotel and racetrack are both available at the same time do you really believe any event can be scheduled with no conflicts? Besides as Jeff so accurately pointed out, this was set prior to Ferraris schedule. if anyone, it is they who should receive your criticism. How many national FCA events have you attended?
